Awesome, I remember when this commercial was airing on TV back in the year 2000!!! Today (Friday, February 5, 2021) marks the very first time since the TV airings that I have EVER seen this commercial!! Thought I'd never see it again, guess I was wrong! Thankfully, system restore was introduced there. It helps recover windows files (but if all win32 files deleted, reinstall system)

In a sense, Vista was ahead of its time. But it will always have stigma surrounding it, mainly due to it kinda being rushed (did they not make sure it was compatible with hardware at first) And it was buggy too (Though later fixed, though it was too late)

I'm also surprised by the weird pattern... a good OS is released by Microsoft, everyone loves it, a couple years later they release a poorly-received OS and rinse and repeat. Also, poorly-received OSs always look weirdly aesthetically pleasing... Windows Me had cool squares everywhere, Vista was translucent with an amazing abstract background and Windows 8 had cool stylized squares.

i remember busting my ass all summer and saving up to buy my first real pc back in 01. This commercial came on automatically when i first powered it up. Brings back memories... especially the feeling of excitement and accomplishment. Thank you for posting this!

And sadly they all sued by Apple (maybe this the survived one or made after Apple doesn't care about knockoffs again?) because Apple were afraid of competition. Wow. I remember watching this when I booted our new Windows ME PC for the first time... despite how terrible the OS was, it was so much of an upgrade compared to our old 486 on Windows 3.1 that it didn't matter.

Still got my Windows Me desktop still works to this day never had a issue with it a lot of the complaints are probably people that didn’t know how to use it

These specs were for a new PC from around 2000 that was first supplied with only 64 Mb RAM. I requested it have 128 Mb, since the lesser setup was slow with multimedia of the time (it had fast Internet, so I knew it was the amount of RAM). After the RAM upgrade, using the computer was a breeze. I also took very good care of the hard drive and the OS, keeping it updated & secure, and since its users mostly used Netscape for business, then viruses and exploits never made it there.

I remember clicking on this video on the OS itself and watching it over and over again as a kid lol

The best part? The computer became the most stable thing ever after upgrading it to Windows XP. It lived until 2006, an impressive lifetime for a Pentium III-based PC.

I don't think that System Restore worked in the final build. The bugs that kid made were crazy...

Windows ME (Millennium Edition) is the Final Windows Operating System of the 2nd Millennium.

This just reminded me of Cyberpunk 2077. Beautiful trailer and broken product.

THAT WAS WAY BETTER THAN I EXPECTED.

Connectivity and multimedia, two words that was hype at the time Win Me is released. They did built an OS based on those two words. Instead of functionality and reliability. Nevertheless, that OS introduced me to System Restore, an amazing feature of Windows that I never use.

According to me it is because windows me it's unstable they have to rush development that's why, now after that I will not tolerate somebody calling me a nerd

i remember the old times i have a windows 98 SE i got this computer in 2002 this computer survive 8 years with 1024 GHZ and 256 RAM and 20 of HDD this computer start falling with BSOD and multiple crashes and changing the OS to windows XP this is my story...

The days before l had internet... l used to watch THIS for entertainment, on my Windows ME PC

"Windows ME" "So many possibilities" Could have been true, if more time was spent developing it. Coming from a guy who used 2000 unitll 2003

Yeah, Windows ME IS A THIRD EDITION OF WINDOWS 98 AND IT ENDED SUPPORT IN 2006

I remember this was my first Operating System i owned it came in the Compaq Presario 5000. At first when new it was ok then about a year into it i had to do system restore. from there on i would do system restore about every 3 months because it crashed often lol. i still have the speakers that cam with it
