I think doing it with Windows 2000 and XP would be less glitchy, because XP and 2000 are both NT-based, whereas Windows 95 is DOS-Based

This is not just a hybrid of 95 and XP. This is a hybrid of Russian 95 and English XP. Hence all the question marks and mojibake - the character encoding is not set right for Cyryllic text.

Eh, I didn't think this would work. The Kernels of Win95 and WinXP are simply too different. You'd have to use another WindowsNT system for this sort of things to work correctly.

You better use English Windows 95 for that

It doesn't matter since the files and instructions in every Windows 9x version are the same. The errors happened because the 9x dlls, executables, cpls etc. don't have the required instructions which XP is looking for.

@@ash3s_ only the file associations were related to that, everything else behaved the same on a Russian XP (they use the same codepage).

@@Prowindows62 As I said it has *nothing* to do with the system's language. Some instructions are missing in the 9x libraries that XP requires to actually function properly.

Try replacing xp recources w win 2000 recources edit: wow tnx for likes :)

Next time you merge two windows versions, here's a tip: Instead of using total commander, boot the VM with an ubuntu live disk or any live OS and copy and paste from there to bypass the write protections

@@rindo2622 You just have to not touch the boot part, plus I don't think you can overwrite boot sectors with the file system so it should be fine.

@@vieilatome2257 The drivers are gonna be overwritten by the Windows 95 ones, so it's not gonna work, if you don't copy the drivers, DLLs might be broken, but it should at least boot.

It's not windows 95 theme at all...do you know there's the classic theme in xp and 7 as well. This just looks like a corrupted system. It's why the default UI kept appearing which is slightly off colour to the theme of 95.

Windows 7 is nearly Vista. Not sure about the taskbar, but otherwise barely any destruction would happen.
