What about Windows XP
Today is a great day for all Windows 95 fans like us! The first time I used it was back in 1999 on an actual desktop PC. It was originally my dad's, but it soon became mine. It became my first computer operating system. I have lots of fond memories of it! Then, in 2002, my dad replaced it with an HP Pavilion desktop PC with Windows XP Home Edition on it, which I also have fond memories of. As a result, I would never use Windows 95 again until I started using it in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 on an HP Pavilion p6230f PC with Windows 7 Home Premium on it in 2010, a late 2000s desktop computer I received for Christmas back in 2009. I wish I could have kept my Windows 95 PC because Windows 95 was a fantastic OS from the mid 1990s. So, I will have to get another one at some point in the future by purchasing one on eBay. Wonderful celebration video!

Packard Bell Navigator looks pretty interesting, a full video on that would be awesome!
Very enjoyable video! As a kid, I used to spend my weekends installing and reinstalling different operating systems, exploring what made each one unique. This type of content is great fun to watch!
Can’t wait for the videos on this thing, love the content bro
Thx for the nostalgic review Michael, I enjoyed it very much and I'm looking forward to the Coreldraw 3.0 upcoming video
Ah yes, Windows 95. While not my first version of Windows, it is still one of if not the most influential version of Windows to date. Happy Birthday 95!
Was a legend time when Windows 95 came out. Though made my 486 DX2/80 grind to a halt. Took an upgrade to a Pentium 200MMX to make it fly.
Great Video And Also Happy Birthday Windows 95!
Great video Michael! I love you way you edit your videos! Love you
i just came for the computer clans video and i didn't even realize that it's birthday was today, besides xp, this was one of the most innovative versions of windows ever
One correction. VFAT means Virtual File Allocation table. This is what allows Windows 95 to use Long file names. because Win 95 is still built on dos the file names are still limited to 8.3 characters. VFAT Allows a user to create a longer file name in windows while still creating a 8.3 character file name for the dos so the OS can still function. The VFAT error happened because you tried to load windows from a dos boot disk by typing "win". You can only load windows 95 from DOS when you are booted into the DOS on the HDD that Windows Installs. When you launch Win 95, 98 & ME from a dos boot disk that isn't its own dos, It doesn't load the VFAT services required to run windows so the system halts the boot process. The VFAT services are only loaded when booting windows from the HDD. Hope this answered your question to why you got this error!!! Happy 25th Birthday Windows 95!!!!!
I love your channel. You made me learn so many things that will be usefull to me in the future! This was the reality of using a PB back on the day. I have "fond" memories of these things sucking to work on.
Awesome! and Happy 25th Aniversary, Windows 95!
I just realized that I was not suscribed to your channel. Great videos, I really enjoy watching them. I´m 23 and I can recall of using Windows 95 in my DELL pentium 2 computer when I was 5 or 6, such nostalgia
This was my first pc but with a 133mhz cpu and 16 mb memory. Later upgraded with a 166mhz mmx cpu and 32mb memory. Good memories

XP was my first OS, but my first ever school (circa 2007) had computers running Windows 95, which I used to attend Word typing lessons.
So nostalgic, I remember and remember that I liked that blue wallpaper while installing.
Happy 25th Anniversary, Windows 95!
All of these issues with "Restore CD" is the reason I always clean install using the default Win95 install CD back in the day.
I wasn’t around in 95 area but I love using this os (I am in to old tech) it’s so cool using old version of Windows! Happy B-Day 95!

Omg. That rodent revenge game. I used to play that like 14 years ago, I enjoyed it lot and I have been trying to find that game soooo long. Cant believe it. Thx for this 😁
Ooooh baby! I had one of these lovely devices secondhand way back. I cannot recall the particular model name, but ridiculously similar specifications. line had the 1.2 GB drive, maybe 16 MB ram. Pentium 100 MHz CPU. Im not sure if it had MMX support. The goofiest thing of these PB models at least for me was that they had a riser isa card. Mine in particular had a 14.4k modem soundcard and a gameport all in one card. Excellent video MJD
I still remember the day in mid-1996 . my father had his OS upgraded from Windows 3.11 for Workgroups to Windows 95 with MS Plus! The PC was a DX/4 100 which we used for about 4 more years.
I just installed Win95 on a Virtual Machine and it's been great! It's quite fun!
Cheers to 25 years of Windows 95. Great video, by the way.

Takes me back to school, using Windows 95 to learn computing basics when I was about 7.
I remember buying both Windows 95 and NT4 with educational discount and trying them both - it was a huge discount. I much preferred NT4 after a short while using them both and pretty much stuck with it until Windows 2000 apart from one machine for the games that just refused to run on NT. Either way though coming from Windows 3.1 it was a huge leap forward for most people in terms of usability, I think most computer nerds back then were familiar enough with messing with DOS and Windows to not really need usability improvements but Windows 95 did make using a PC a whole lot easier for noobs, even if it did have its own problems.
Good to be back in time, with Win 95
Ive never used it as my daily driver (i was born the same year as win 7) but i really like the design, and it revolutionized windows. Happy birthday windows 95
I got much more use out of Windows 98 myself -but yeah windows 95 brought so much to modern computing - great video. :)
This was a great video to watch 👍
I noticed TuneLand was installed on this PC. The Acer PC we owned in 1996 also included that game. A lot of those 7th Level games were fun.

yoo, the Packard bell legend pcs! they look so cool that i want one myself
Happy windows 95 anniversary
That's exactly what my original Packard Bell looked like when I booted it up out of the box.
I loved Windows 95. Mario Teaches Typing FTW! Also Math Rescue on DOS was alright.
My first PC was a Packard Bell from the same time period (in tower form though), running Windows 95 on a Pentium 133 with 8MB of RAM. Like every Packard Bell of the time, it was a pile of junk compared to other brands, though their in home warranty repair did save my butt when the power supply died a few months after I bought it. As crappy as it was, I still have huge nostalgia for these old systems and their particular beige and boxy aesthetic, and I'd really like to find one someday and set it up the way it was when I owned it.
This makes me want to pull out my old Windows 95 desktop and play some games on it
This also marks the 24th Anniversary of Windows NT 4.0 which was sold on stores on August 24, 1996 the same year of Windows 95 OSR2
Tomorrow is my birthday, I was this close to be born on XP's release date.

I seriously considered going to CompUSA to get a copy during their midnight launch sale, but waited to pick it up during lunch hour. Finally got past Win3.1's conventional memory limit!
LOVE YOU MJD
Love Your Content! Stay Connected Bro!
I remember a classmate got a beta copy of Windows 95 when I was in university. It was on about 30 floppies. Had that same setup background screen.
About three years ago I found a 1999 Packard Bell that I had forgotten about. It was in my garage. The bag with the original disk/parts was there also. It had Windows 98 OEM. The disk was a restoration disk, still wrapped and unopened, that would restore Windows 98, but only on that computer. I plugged it in. To my astonishment it still worked. I couldn't get it online because it needed an old modem. I contacted a Puppy Linux group and they sent me a boatload of parts for free! I offered to pay for postage but they said no! They sent me a modem that got the Packard Bell to go online. Then for safety I wiped the whole PC with Dban and tried installing some Linuxes. Lighter Linuxes such as Lbuntu worked. Albeit very slowly using all the swap. Bear in mind the specs were 96 Mb of RAM and 20 GB of HDD! That was after I added in 32 Mb more of RAM! That was a beast of a job to open the Packard Bell up. It was like Fort Knox. The best Linux for it was DSL [Damn Small Linux] that is sadly defunct. Puppy Linux was also good.
A couple years late, but for anyone else viewing this who is trying to install the contents of a Packard Bell disc, there is also a way to unpack Packard Bell-specific files after installing a clean copy of Windows 95/98. First, on the root of the CD, there should be a folder called "APPS." Contained within are a bunch of GTS and GTZ files. If you open the GTS files with Notepad, you can see what programs and other contents will be installed. Elsewhere on the Master CD, there ought to be a program called "Gtinst.exe." Just find the WINDOWS\OPTIONS directory, and it will be in there. (e.g. D:\BU\D\Win95.Dat\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\GTS\GTINST.EXE) Using "Run" from the start menu, or within a command prompt window, run Gtinst.exe and follow it with the location and name of the GTS file and the INSTALL command. Example: gtinst.exe D:\APPS\177.gts install
My first Personal Computer was a low profile non-HP Compaq (unknown model), with Windows 95. With that blue keyboard wallpaper as my background. That was some time around 1996-2000. For this computer, instead install OEM Windows 95 latest, all drivers, all possible updates. Then create 'drive clone' to write to CD (split up if possible). Unsure which softwares allow you such function. Optionally create alternate version with some of your recommended software (for yourself or others). And you could upload both online. Also, I recently got a 5$ Desktop with Celeron 420 LGA775 1-Core, 1.5GB RAM, 80GB HDD. Will try to upgrade to maximum (still checking specifications), and try something lightweight and modern for the operating system.
love the content and this channel

Just yesterday I tried setting up Windows 95 in a VM, but I had no idea about today!
Awesome video! Any chance I could get a source for that Packard-Bell restore CD?
I saw something that was installed on the Packard Bell that I was wondering if it were at least similar to the IBM Aptiva that I had which also shipped with Windows 95. The Voiceview program. The voice operated program on my Aptiva allowed me to operate the entire computer (while Windows was running). This included opening and closing windows, Internet Explorer navigation, and typing in a word processor program. I'd like to see that...

You couldn't edit out 2 minutes and 38 seconds? Where is your dedication, Michael?! JK lol, great video, great OS!!
Windows, yeah!
Nice. Although you could just edit the Autoexec.bat file & remove the command line for the video driver. Anyways, great video.
Of course a Packard Bell video is never complete without a Billy Coore reference.
Here's an idea for a future tech experiment: trying to use a restore disk on a different computer than the one it was designed for.
Wayback when I was trained for support on Windows 95 just before it's release. Nice titbit, on the original release CD was a videoclip from Weezer. I have that on LP 25 years later now and I moved over to Apple and running Windows OS if needed in a VM. Times change. The machine it ran on was a 386DX with an overclocked busspeed @83?Mhz, Yep,. None of these GHz things; poor thing haha :D

When 98 first came out, I refused to get it for my K6-2 350. But, it would have run better due to the infamous timing bug in 95. Anything running at 350MHz and faster would give you a Windows Protection error. Microsoft and/or AMD would very quickly put out a patch for this bug.
