Thanks a million ! I watched this and another tutorial with my son and we were able to keep the working micro switch but make it a more snug fit in the cam. Drop, courtesy light, door open notification and lights-on alarm now working.

Best video I've seen on this job. Getting ready to tackle it myself for TAKE 2...take one I got the door card off and the cables undone only to discover I don't have any 12pt spline bits. DOH! Amazon should be delivering today, and I'm going for the add a strip of metal option...

Looks like an easy fix, I'm always glad I kept my soldering iron after giving up drone building as it's very handy having it in the tool box.

Followed this guide recently and it went like a dream. I found that taking/leaving the door lock bolts out made it easier to get the plastic shield out and in. An unexpected bonus is that it seems to have also cured the parasitic battery drain which has plagued me for over five years. Result!! Huge thanks to you.

Great work! Would’ve made my life a little easier a week ago. Ended up buying a decent used latch assembly after I messed up soldering at the board. I have seen/heard of people placing a strip of metal over the switch to make up for the space lost from the switch button covering and the plastic coming off the latch.

I love how you can just beat on the plastic on the top of the door panel and stays intact mine would just fall apart 😂😂

Great video and very well demonstrated. My TT needs one of these but I just know I'd make a hash of it.

As an observer, I’d say it would be advantageous if you left the original wires as long as possible. That way the good old TT can take a good six more micro switch changes. On the plastic wearing out, we could potentially 3d print something that can be glued on, and changed when need be. Please keep adding content as you’ve been my go to from day one of owning my Mk1 TT. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀🍀🍀

Why there is no need to keep cutting them. It’s soldered in so you can just redo the connect for the next switch.

Your videos are great mate! Picking up a TT this weekend and this seems to be the only issue it has. (fingers crossed)

How was the car then? Was the microswitch the only thing that needed repair?

Video should include a quick preliminary diagnostic that tests whether window “convenience” feature is fully enabled or not, which can also cause just one window not to drop. Went ahead with a switch replacement only to discover it wasn’t the problem… Commonly happens after a battery disconnect; the reset procedure takes 15 seconds and is in the owners manual.

Hi mate, all your videos are great , made me buy a TT , and now I have my first problem, my driver's side window as just dropped the amount it does when you open the door ,then I noticed when I shut the door, it didn't go back up, I tried to close it on the switch but nothing, but would go down on the switch but still wouldn't go up,now it's all the way down, took the door card off and I can hear something near the motor when I use the switch down and a faint click when trying up any ideas cheers Trev

hey thanks for the videos, hey you know I have a problem with my audi tt 01 I did a scan and generated 3 codes P1469 says it is valve 2 for activ open circuit. P1103 sensor1 heater performance too low, and P1297 charger throttle pressure drop. Do you have any videos where I can see how to solve any of these problems?

Great video and has gone ok. Only problem is I can’t get the locking mechanism to engage. When I close the door it just springs open. Any advice?

I decided to just get a new door actuator as i was struggling to get a micro switch but my window still does not drop and the car locks itself after 45 secs even when the door is open.

Changedy micro switch on my roadster drivers door as it was not dropping. Hasn't worked,made.o difference. Tried a reset on the window operation and still the same. Just about to give up on it.

at .37 black plastic piece is attached at the top [unless broken?]

The bit at the end you said is a pain in the arse. Put that back in on the door card then put the other bits into the door steel work after installation it's much easier that way.

That way the one half way up door side is tricky to locate, whichever way you go though, lube is the key

What key do I have to use on the side? Can't find it.

I replaced the battery and afterwards the windows, trunk release, power top, and fuel door release stopped working. Is there an easy cure or is that a big problem? Just bought the TT and love the car. Your videos are awesome!!!

Hello there.. On my roadster on the passenger side is not working at all. Already took apart but did not replace that switch cause I thought is the motor . But my knowledge on that department is vague. Is the problem the micro switch? Thanks and stay healthy!!

If the window doesn't move at all under normal operation then it's not going to be the microswitch at fault

@1RUFC I took apart and gave to a friend of mine to fix it, he cleaned all and put it back together and it worked.

I know a lot of people have asked but I can’t see a response. Where can we buy the switches?

Hello great video. I just replaced the switch but wen I plug it in left side it doesnt lower the window. But when I plug the module into the right hand door it does work. I also tried to reset the windows but no succes. Got any ideas?

You could have an issue with the wiring loom, you can do a pin out check from the connector just inside the car as the loom comes out of the door

At the 6:30 mark you say ".... got this bit back on" but I have been unable to force that pin back through even when I position it and use a hammer. How do you get it back on?

You probably just need to do a window reset prosedure. You can find the details on the tt forum. It basically opening the door and keeping the window down pressed for a few seconds at the lowest it can go, then keep pressing up on the highest it can go for a further 10 seconds. The window should reset.

Do you have the code or serial number of Switch? I want buy first the switch.

Left+Right Door Lock Micro Switch Set For Audi A6 VW Passat B5 Bora Polo GolfMK4 from eBay. According to the Europe Audi TT website. Just ordered them and will see in a bit.

If you’ve not connected the cables then you’re gonna have to destroy the door card to get access

@@BWSTT I have partially destroyed the door card but everything seems like it’s all connected and when the exterior handle is pulled I can feel it and see it working correctly it just doesn’t open

When i open my left door the window is not dropping, not showing at my dashboard that i have open door and also light doesn't turn on inside... You think this is the switch i have to fix?

my window does automatically drop when the door opens and it doesn't automatically close when the door is closed. my windows switch on the door stopped working. Even my mirror switch doesn't work. is it this micro switch or module in the door? thanks

I have issue with transition mount. Can not find one, Audi said it is obsolete, what is the best place online, Audi tt 2000, 225 he Quatro, 6 speed manual.

Could it be that my microswitch is the culprit of various different problems with my TT? It's started with the windows not dropping properly (both sides, working on and off), then the fuse that controls central locking and windows started blowing every other time I locked the car. Then yesterday, all of a sudden I couldn't unlock the car with neither key directly in the car nor central unlocking. I have been looking at a used door to just run place the whole thingbecsuse my door does have a bit of rust, but it's very expensive. I'm starting a new job next week that I have to drive to, so stressing a bit about it. Anyone got any thoughts?

Without knowing if its a coupe or a roadster, the symptoms you describe point towards a bad CCM- which is a common fault on roadsters, less so on coupes. Of course there is also the possibility that the wiring has deteriorated between the door and the body.

I sent an email to your work (if I found the correct email address), regarding your rates etc :) Must Google ccm, don't know what that is. I have a 225 quattro coupe (sorry to have forgotten that!) and have suspected something with the wiring - as a follow up problem to the windows not going all the way up. I haven't gotten around to fixing them yet, and she worked fine when I got her in December, but these problems started showeing up after washing her a few times (and water getting in via the windows, right above the door handles). I've ordered the microswitches you linked to, and will be fixing the windows (also with the help of your videos 🙏). And will be getting you loooots of lattes! 🤗

Just cut the red wire, fixed.
