There is a better way to do this! First of all use lube for installing tires instead of the messy WD 40 that will not be good for the rubber and will seem to never go away. It is similar to soapy water. They sell it by the jug with an applicator. Secondly there are tools specifically for this. The awl is a problem waiting to happen with scratching the surface and possible injury. They make a hard plastic rubber installing tool as well as a locking tool specifically for doing this. Doing it with my suggestions would make it faster, easier and safer.

Great how-to video, I have two of these windows on my garage door and the gasket material has degraded . I ordered the gasket and will be installing soon.

well mate actually wd 40 is great for rubber as its a synthetic lubricant works well and any glass cleaner will remove it secondly just use a piece of 3mm diameter string in the grove and pull it in i have done many windscreens this way easy

You need to be using tire mounting lubricant or just real soapy water. WD-40 is oily and hard to get completely off -

Most of us have wd 40 but not inox.

WD 40 is mineral based - that's not gonna help these materials in the long run.. Inox would have been a much better choice here (Lanolin based) and would have done the same job if not better.

I would've used tire mounting lube, or real soapy water -
