I watched you first video. Used ideas from your build to build mine. Used 8 inch vent pipe to cut out the sails. Mine has been up 2 years now. Only problem, the red paint is coming off the galvanise. Thanks for the inspiration. Your looks great.

So glad you got some ideas from it! My paint came off the original one as well. On this one I taped off and lightly sanded with 150 grit to rough up metal, primed, and sprayed 2 top coats of Krylon Rust Protector. We'll see if that holds up.

I like the lawnmower spindle idea. But a lot of those need to be taken apart so you can take the inner seal off the bearings so the grease actually gets to the ball bearings.

a man after my own heart. I built a series of windmills over a 10 year span in my other life. it was the most gratifying experience. now what to do with all that captured energy? lol. where does it end? great job, love it. that poor dog looks half starved. lol

Both videos are awesome sir. This second one is a perfect upgrade to the first one as well. It al looks very pretty. Never thought of attaching a dynamo or say generator to it in order to see if it can support you with some electricity or so?

Thank you, I've seen some with a car alternator attached and running a light or something but this one is just out in a field.

Hello, I've watched both your video's and found them very helpful. I'm making a smaller windmill. First time to try one. Stand will be about eight foot. What thickness timber did you use for yours, and what thickness would you recommend for an eight foot stand? Thanks

I used treated 2 x 4's and cut the width to 3", so they were actually 1 1/2" thick by 3" wide and used the part I cut off for the cross bracing. The cross bracing also adds a lot of strength.

I hammered big stakes in at all 4 corners and screwed the bottom of the legs to them. It would definitely blow over otherwise in big winds as the windmill head really catches the wind.

What is the size of the poles so to speak? 70*70 cm or is it 95*95 cm

What guage (thickness) are the blades made from ?

It's made from regular HVAC ductwork, so .26 or .28 gauge

where can I get the blades?

I cut the blades out of 6" galvanized duct pipe with tin snips www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-6-in-x-60-in-Galvanized-Steel-Round-Duct-Pipe/3482053

Can you tell me the total diameter and length and width of the blades

Sorry just saw this, 38" diameter , blades 12" long, 6" at top, 2 3/4" at the bottom.

You can climb up that windmill tower and get you a nice haircut 😉 🤣

I bought that spindle assembly. Is it safe to use a hammer to tap out the shaft and not damage the bearing?

@@ednetgalloway5358 I would imagine so, gently, the one I bought actually didn't have the axel in it, just the bearings.

Do you recall about what diameter that fan is?
