Incredible, so much control and so fast. May I ask what foil u are using? I have the universal foil from rrd, but it's definitely not that fast nor maneuverable 😢

Thanks! I use a Slingshot Phantasm foil setup with a Phantasm PFI 730 front wing (very similar to the Slingshot Infinity 76 wing) Hopefully the Phantasm for Windfoil will be available in the next few months, until then the Slingshot Infinity 76 wing is good choice

Thanks! Yes continue to Windfoil it is so much fun!!! Here I am using a Slingshot prototype board that is very similar to the new Slingshot V3 Wizards, I use Goya Fringe sails, very light and powerful!

@@GregGlazier the Sligshot infinity is 1534 square centimeters (as mine the moses 790). it s not too big with the high wind you get there? Please what is the size of your sail and the volume of your board for how many knots? :) :) thankssss

Looks like a Slingshot Wizard 90 or smaller, with about a 4 meter Goya Fringe sail. The foil mast is huge (more than 4 feet long) and the wing is all carbon, probably an Infinity 76 or 88.

Another excellent video that's again inspirational - thanks! Really impressed with you using a 2.8 sail. What do you find is its usable wind range on that gear? (I like 3.7 & 3.1 for windy sea swell riding but know that smaller is better!) I'm also interested in your mast track setting. I think free ride foilers often run the mast track from about 100cm or less from the front foil bolt whereas for extreme foil style (eg Balz) that comes down to only 83cm. If you don't mind - what distance did you set that 2.8 at? Thanks

Thanks Brett! That is not an easy question, "useable wind range", it will differ from person to person (weight, skill level, gear(size of front foil wing and size of board), willingness to pump) and on the wind quality conditions. Wind range for me (75 kg) using a 2.8m Goya Fringe Sail( light weight, powerful) is a lot about having the gusts be strong enough and frequent enough to get up on the foil when needed. Once you are up foiling, within reason, you can get away with the smaller sail by using efficient sail handling, reading the wind, riding chop/swell, pumping the sail and the foil to connect wind gusts. We would all like to have steady wind but that is usually not the case, so the more effort you put into it the longer you can stay up on foil. So roughly my wind range for my 2.8m sail, 90L to 100L board, Relatively low aspect foil wing (Slingshot Phantasm PFI 730, similar to the Slingshot I76) starts at an18knot Average(13 knot lulls, 24 knot gusts) up to 25 knot average. I have a 2.5m that I now usually ride if the wind is averaging above 25 knots but before I used to ride my 2.8m all the way up to 35+ knots average. Mast track placement for me(and everyone that I foil with) is all about the balance of lift the foil is producing. There are a lot of variables that go into this equation , foil, stabilizer wing angle(shimming), foil mast and fuselage, board, sail(size and type), conditions, rider preference, etc. I ride boards that are short (127cm & 147cm) they virtually have very little or no board length in front of the sail mast base, this changes the balance having very little weight in front , different than what Balz is riding with much more board and weight in front of the sail mast base. So in this video my sail mast base is at 94cm for the 2.8m sail on my 147cm board, on my 127cm board with no nose I set it at 99cm for the same sail to balance the lift. For larger sails I bring my sail mast base to compensate for the extra weight of the sail and increased downforce power of the sail.

@@GregGlazier Thanks for replying in such detail Greg - really appreciate that. Your comments are extra helpful to me as we're about the same weight. I've gone down the Sabfoil path & am using 2.04 & 1.83 boards but have just made myself a 1.5m board (too heavy, I need to make another). Slingshot obviously are focusing on small board wind foiling but other brands have been a bit slow to do the same & combining that with how fast foiling is evolving it's hard to know what's optimum. IMO small board & v small sail foiling in higher winds is fantastic fun so I'll keep looking out for your videos to see what's next! Thanks again, cheers.

@@GregGlazier Is your 2.5 the Scion X Pro or a custom Fringe Pro? Thanks to you and Emily, I ride almost exclusively now on Fringe Pro 2.8, 3,3., 4.2. The 2.8 also works pretty well for me from about 18 avg up to 30ish, but for the solid 25+ days it would be nice to go smaller. Best wishes, Jeff

@@GregGlazier That 130 mast looks exciting. I sailed the 120 for a few weeks at La Ventana during the windiest season they've had in many years (low 20s-28, gusting 30s on many days). It was super gusty and holey. The 120 was really challenging to get flying due to the extra drag: I found I had to aim way downwind, then it would accelerate super fast, so I had to head up very quickly into an oncoming big swell to control the power. It was ok in steady conditions and really cool flying over the big swells and chop. The 103 showed up later and was a lot easier to control.

So should we all rush and go get a 1.3mast?

Hi. What about the fusselage.... can I get away with a big front low aspect wing and a fusselage 60cms long?

Hi, not sure, my fuselage is around 89cm long, smallest I've ever used is around 79cm long which worked fine. In general the bigger low aspect wing is slower, gets up earlier on foil, a bit less maneuverable and breaches easier in sharp turns. You should try it though👍🏽👍🏽

Thanks! There are a few parts accelerated to 1.25, with a telephoto lens at distance and at some acute angles the footage looks slower than reality so I tried to compensate for that.

Really plesuring to watch if it was not created By IA....LOl
