Wind fans massive California wildfire, heat dome slams Midwest

The Post Fire is roaring in northwestern Los Angeles County, covering more than 14,000 acres and forcing evacuations for many Gorman, California, residents. Meanwhile, a heat dome is spreading across the Midwest and parts of the East Coast. CBS News' Carter Evans and CBS News Chicago's Tara Molina report.

    Given that wind driven embers can fly over 1 mile, you’d have to denude 100s of square miles as a fire break. Winter rains would turn the denuded land into mud flow. If you think about it, even a 4-6 lane highway would be barely adequate as a fire break in gusty, wind conditions.

    I live in the desert. I have found that Body Armor drink with electrolytes gets rid of the uggg feeling from the heat. It's important to replace your electrolytes or you will basically feel lile crap .

    14,000 acres is nothing. The Witch Creek Fire was 197,000 acres. The Cedar Fire was 273,000 acres. That is the scale of a big one.

    14k is big if you live in the area, plus those fires were at 14k at one point. Hopefully, this fire doesn’t get close to those numbers!!

    I wonder where the wildlife will run to.... And how does wildfire affect the San Andreas fault line?? Does the extreme heat cause problems with the techtonic plates underground?.😮 Idk. Hope everyone can get out safely and the news is keeping people informed, no more media interference with TRUTH .Straight accurate news please. That record rainfall has primarily been due to a few very serious storms That dumped huge amounts of rain in a short period of time rather than a shift in long-term weather patterns. Overall the weather in California has been getting drier for decades. It's also important to understand that climate change causes increases in severe weather. You know severe weather like crazy rain that dumps a record amount of water in a short period of time.....
