Win Your Next Fight With This Elite Karate Strategy

Спорт

Jesse Enkamp (The Karate Nerd) explains a kumite fighting strategy to learn the best moment to attack your opponent with perfect timing. This tactic is known as "The Clock Strategy" and can be applied to all styles of Karate - and even other martial arts that do sparring, kumite or fighting in general. WKF world champions like Rafael Aghayev, Luigi Busa, Douglas Brose and Matsuhisa Ko use this tactic all the time. Visit www.karatebyjesse.com to learn more!

How would you apply these rules to fighting Chuck Norris 1: He’s almost certainly better than me 2: Time waits for no man unless that man is Chuck Norris, so hard to say when the first quarter, half or last quarter is 3: Chuck Norris never retreats, he just attacks in the opposite direction

You could make a video about fear/insecurity/stress. Everyone preps and trains for a fight. Everyone has a strategy/plan. Sometimes though the stress or fear can be overwhelming and even though you might have been a better fighter but eventually lose cause of these factors. Some people will say it goes away with time/practice/experience or say to stay away from martial arts. I believe fear or stress are just emotions that someone can overcome with the proper instructions. Are there ways, perhaps techniques that new and old practitioners can implement in their training to overcome these frustrating emotions or is time the only remedy? Thank you.

They signed up for it. Let em have it. Besides, if you don't push them, you are denying them chances to improve and therefore not being a great training partner. You're also teaching yourself to hold back and therefore denying yourself improvement as well. That's not saying to let go of self-control but don't be scared to apply some force and skill. Approach your battles with confidence, choose them wisely though. They'll either power through the pain and grow stronger, or they will quit. That choice is theirs, yours, alone. The key is to determine how hard you can hit them without hurting them too much. You don't wanna break your partner but you do wanna give them a realistic sense of combat as well. Obviously these rules differ in actual confrontations. In which you'll wanna do whatever you have to do but just know if you hurt them too much, you risk legal trouble. But if lives are threatened then I say anything goes, prefer not to kill but if you absolutely have no other choice but death, your life or theirs, then I mean.... ya know. ;)

Great video! My problem is mental. Pulling the trigger to attack and I usually get performance anxiety before/during every tournament. I tend to think during Kumite as well when I should be more fluid. Give me a microphone and I’ll perform karaoke no problem in front of any crowd but put me on the mat and it’s a different story.

Thanks for this video, Jesse! I'm struggeling with moving in general: 1. I often just bounce up and down, having a particular rhythm in my movements. 2. I often fail in attacking "out of nowhere" and instead move a foot or a hand before I actually attack, which gives my partner time to prepair. 3. It's sometimes quite hard for me to move around my partner, and it's just a fourth and back.

I’m 56 and not quite as flexible, light on my feet, or nimble as I used to be. I love to kick and mix it up with the best of them but head high round house kicks and hook kicks to a 6’ opponent are beyond my capabilities. What can I work on to increase my explosiveness with my sweeps, chudan level kicks and punches. Thanks for your consideration!

How about a video about over coming your fear of being hit, which is most people's problem when fighting? Which can lead into being more aggressive. Or a video about learning to control your anger/aggression so you don't hurt someone? Which would be my issue. Karate has helped me with that since I came home from Iraq and I would love this knowledge to be shared with everyone, not just veterans.

Great video as usual Sensei 🙏 In Kuyokshin we often use the time strategy, but it now so well known that you have to create sub strategies before a fight. That mean everything from in depth video analysis of your opponents earlier fights and a rundown of their technical and physical abilities. Then you make a fight plan. I would like to see your take on fighting a much quicker opponent than yourself. Because t for some it can be a headache. I am teaching my strategy for a quicker opponent, but would be great to see yours. 🙏

Now last Wednesday me and my friend had a rematch and this time I lost 2-3. Me and My friend are basically equal in skill. I think he knew this strategy cause I play mostly aggressive and then I end up gettin tired quickly. He plays defensive for most of the match. But once I get tired he constantly applies pressure. Next Wednesday I will rematch him and try the strategy!

My biggest challenge is honestly the fear and acceptance that im going to get hit, not in the body but in the face. The only reason i have reasonably less fear about it now is because its happened sparring amongst friends, one being just above my weight class (me being 140/145 regularly, and him being about 165/170). And the 2nd time being 290 which is literally twice my size. Both lead to concussions, match one took about 3 punches at maybe 50-70% power from his side, and the 2nd took a single hook and little to no effort. Now obviously getting hit that hard in the head isnt the safest or best way to overcome this fear, but thats what it took for me, and even now im a little hesitant about whether my fear is still lingering or not. Not sure if you have a video about this fear, but if not then maybe you could make one ?

I think, my struggle when it comes to fight someone in a tournament is the lack of sparring in my dojo, we do some techniques and tactics, but those are with the partners waiting for the attack... also, those with my size sometimes they don’t go to the training... I’m thinking of that because when sometimes we do sparring, I feel like I’m really learning something because my partner is not waiting for my attack, they want to attack too.

In Tai Chi and other Kung Fu styles, they all habe these exercises that help a person sense their energy, or Qi (Chi), called Qigong. And I heard that the Japanese word "Ki" is the word used in place of the Chinese "Qi". Are there Ki cultivating exercises for Karate?

I struggle when fighting someone smaller, faster and with good cardio. I get really tired out fighting them. How would you fight someone who could tire you out? Or be faster then you?

I got a trouble being taller, because almost everybody in the "dojang" are smaller than me, so, the thing is that they get pretty close to me making my moves useless, how can i keep my distance on them?

I'd like to see a karate video on dealing with an overly dedicated attacker. Often an opportunity to flip an attacker presents itself when an opponent is either overconfident, angry or tries to overdedicate a strike.
