WIMBLEDON 2024 | Going back to London to play on grass brings back so many memories
Спорт
Growing up we used to live just a block away from the Bank of England club. My brothers and I would sneak in and play football on their nice fields. Its wild to go back to play Wimbledon qualifiers on those same fields.

I'm gonna give advice to a pro here which is absolutely ridiculous as an amateur but we all have similar problems with volleys. When I have difficulty with my volleys flying on me - happens more on faster surfaces (maybe because passing shots are deflected with more speed on faster surfaces) 1. I am opening the face too much which adds cut spin making the ball float. (The cut volleys are much easier to control on clay etc because most of the time you trying to hit a dying volley or angle) whereas on grass you need to deflect the speed more with a flatter hit to put away the ball. Interesting concept imo because you need to volley differently on faster surfaces - the same way you need to hit flatter to penetrate the court more on groundstrokes. 2. Leaving the ball come into your side too much also adds cuts spin (open face at impact) - catching the ball out in front needs to be emphasized more - the faster the surface. 3. By catching the ball out in front more the wrist naturally bows (especially on backhand) this helps you hit more of a punch volley. Just like Golf there are games within the game and Volleys is one that is poorly taught. Most people say punch it but this not enough - catching it out in front with a bow in the wrist with the face more closed would be better direction. Awesome attacking game Nicolas, looking forward to seeing you in the Wimbledon main draw next season. the
