He had some type of positive feel-good magic. He wasn't just putting on a show he was feeling it down to his soul and sharing it with anyone and everyone, arms wide open with a great big smile. I don't know a great deal of history concerning his life, but I know he's always talked about with high regard and that his music was special. I know it's rock and roll/soul, but I'm pretty sure the prince of darkness wasn't doing this one because It's like he has angel's all around him all the time. The man was a blessing. R.I.P Mr. Pickett at least for a while. We shall see you again.

My Friend Doug loved Wilson so much he just bust into Wilson's intro: this is Wilson Pickett, welcoming all you hippies, yippies and rounders and bounders to San Francisco. " Wilson always been one of my favorite artists. Doug killed himself in the '80s and whenever I hear Wilson, I remember my Friend I have no more. I'm thankful for Wilson's songs bringing back memories.

That's it! Real music! Real emotion! Pickett left too soon, a gifted voice. Just gives me chills down my spine watching him perform. And the audience was great! Pickett might have left us way too soon but real Soul Music never dies. You can't explain Soul Music, you just can feel and celebrate it. I miss those musicians these days very much.

Ok. I'm a 70-year-old white guy who grew up in the 60's, in white suburbia no less, and just not getting R and B. I preferred psychedelia and blowing my mind. Eventually my love of strange and textured sounds led to a love of classical music. Today I stumbled upon Mr Pickett again. I have a confession to make. WTF was I thinking those 50 years ago? Vanilla Fudge and Electric Prunes, their self-indulgent musical excess, have melted into a soup bowl sitting under similar unwashed dishes in my kitchen sink. Wilson Pickett's excess is of a different variety. From the soul and just a f ing gift to everyone. My belated thanks to you, sir.

I was there (Black Star Square) for the 12hrs concert. The crowd was waiting for Wilson Pickett to hit stage; it was total madness when he stepped out in the Black spotted jump suit. Crowd waited too long after Ike-Tina Turner, Santana, Voices of East Harlem etc. There was a THUNDEROUS CHEER to hail the Exciting Pickett that was heard 15miles away early hours of the morning. Picket came in at the Midnight Hour and opened set with same song. I appeared in the SOUL TO SOUL movie welcoming all the artistes at the Accra International Airport. I was with traditional drummers at the opening movie and still have a DVD copy in my collections. Seeing the act on YoutTube now brings back old memories. I later saw Roberta Flack and Picket at concerts in Raleigh, North Carolina circa 1985.

Listened to Mr. Pickett as a boy.... and still do in 9/20...though my legs, shoulders, arms still shake like crazy, but sadden by how fast time passed....lord, show me your power, grant me a reset button so I could right some of my many regrets.....

Thank God, I grew up with parents who appreciated great music. Old school was the only thing played in our home. The wicked Pickett was my mom's favorite so I heard everything he did and still play them.

My elders loved him too. The kids were exposed to his screams from babyhood and just loved it.
