I like the Time correction! I dont know the cross frequency of mid to tweeter, but presumed 3 KHz, 1/16" steps adjustable means ~5° steps in phase at least at handover point - thats great! Nothing is more important than a time correct first transient!

It would be nice to see Wilson Audio hide the screws that secure each driver to the cabinet.

Why does Wilson use paper pulp driver cones? Why does Wilson use doped silk tweeters? These materials are intrinsically not rigid and are 100 years behind the science of tweeter and driver construction design. Thank you for your reply.

Paper has a lot of advantages. Rigidity is one thing, but resonance behaviour is another. Than there is weight, bandwith, drivability, etc... I'm not a speaker designer, but what I do know is that every producer has its own reasons to use a certain material. Wilson Audio is a well known respectable producer. I'm sure they have their reasons.

John Adams, I would agree with you on this. I recently was listening to a panel of some of multi-grammy winning audio recording engineers in LA and they were asked what speakers they listen to at home, and the response was surprisingly very much the same. They all owned a pair of professional active 225W 3 way speakers, which are also highly regarded as studio monitors as well. These speakers retail for under $8K per pair, with 3 separate amplifiers per speaker. A substantial discount to the $58,000 Alexia 2, WITHOUT amplification. While they don't have an automobile grade paint job, they sound fantastic, and could live in most listening rooms.

Should they just stop trying to improve products after you get something? That way, you personally won’t feel bad when a new iteration is released. Or, is it ok if they serve a market that extends beyond just you?

@@scottwallace1 Nothing against improving an existing design at all. My point is; if you sold S1's to a bunch of customers, for lotssss of money, you should have the respect of NOT telling them that ''now, you gotta buy the new version'' cause your old fashion S1's are nowhere as good as the S2's. You have to sell the idea that the S2's, are better then other manufacturer's comparable models.

Hello, it is a kind of planned obsolescence. The moment you are buying it the seller already knows it will be " improved " soon.

So those who own the series 1 now have a fully obsolete Alexia loudspeakers.

Law Would you suggest that they just stop all development and quit trying to make things better to avoid causing you to feel that your still world class loudspeakers are obsolete? How many times did Peter say that Series 1 is still a great loudspeaker, a dozen maybe? It never ceases to amaze me how indignant some people get when a new version of the thing they own comes out. Like a company should base their research and development on not hurting someone’s feelings because there’s something new.
