When stationed at Nellis AFB back in the mid to late 80's I use to frequent Willow Beach. At that time there was no entrance fee and the view was just as spectacular with the coldest water I've ever stepped in...even in July. Ha! Years earlier they had a bad flash-flood that swept away trailers and sadly lives I heard or read.

The area looked familiar but not quite right so I went to google maps and saw why. I take 93 when I'm heading south but 95 when I'm heading north. If my girlfriend can take a month off we'll head down to Quartzsite and then meander back. She's from Albany, NY so probably not seen London Bridge etcetera. It will be May 2023 so I'll have my 74th in Mesquite Nevada on the way south. Hopefully we'll get to see you in Quartzsite around May 15th.

🤔 why does Willow Beach in AZ have all the water when at Lake Mead, NV the water is at the levels it is? My neighbor told me it is because no water has been released to Lake Mead. Do you know why Lake Mead is allowed to go dry? Seems like a planned demolition to me. Great video 👍

Hey, not much shade in Willow Beach campground. When you don't have A/C, it's almost unlivable in 120 deg heat. Pronto, a mountaintop to get cool (Mount Charleston, just west of Las Vegas, fits the bill). You should try the campgrounds high up Nevada Rte 156, hoping there are places left ... Great video as always, you got talent at documentaries ! RICHARD

I used to come here back in the early 2000's instead of Lake Mead, because it was a sleepy little marina with mostly fisherman here. Very few recreational boaters. We would launch from here and boat down to Cotton Wood Cove, which is another great marina to visit. We would spend the day there boating and camping out on the beach. I remember the restaurant had the best onion rings I have ever had. And to the heat, one of the days we came here, it was a 125, so that river felt really good to swim in once you got down near Cotton Wood. One other thing, it was free to boat here, no fees. Real Bummer to see them charging money now.

This never use to be a fee based entry. It was always free. About 6 years ago, the US government built an entry check building (guessing 800k to a million in cost), pay full time employees, charge fees, but not repave the road. Total bloat.
