I am an M5 owner as well as an F1 fan who loves how the cars used to sound. You see Vicki giggling like a happy little girl and waving at Tiff? That's how I feel every time I drive my car. =)

I love watching the F1 safety car, a very fast, and probably not even close to stock Mercedes, corning at it's limit, leaning over and sliding, while a pack of F1 cars behind it are swerving around trying to heat up their tires because they are going too slow.

I love this episode for one simple reason: enthusiasm. Vicki and Tiff have such incredible enthusiasm for driving and they were given such an amazing opportunity. I wish i could drive an F1.

Adam Hosein He actually took part in a couple of Grands Prix back in 1980,Belgium and Monaco. He was a professional racing driver for many years,touring cars,Le Mans etc.He's a much better driver than Richard Hammond.

+Adam Kjellberg rubbish. Hammond in an 05 V10 Renault. The BMW v10 were the most powerful engines in F1 at that time. 910hp and upwards. Possibly tuned down for this show. This was an FW27

andrewford80 I agree they are way better than what we have now but not a touch on V10 or V12. Tbf though I've pretty much given up on F1 now its going to Sky and its so poor to watch. First time I've not watched a race this season in 20-25 years. Just the odd highlight and review and it so predictable and just a non event. BTCC is where to go.

No street car will EVER beat an f1 car over a lap. the f1 is best at cornering. I highly doubt that will accelerate fater from 0-250kmh too. Maybe at top speed ,az f1 tops out around 22O mph ...no street ,tuned or not car ,no bike or no motogp bike will ever pass thes f1. specially these 2003-4 f1 car with super sticky michelin tires .these cars where mindblowing fast with 3-4 G lateral accelration ...in other words,when your GT-r corners at 160 kmh this f1 will corner at 250 kmh.there`s no competition.

It's good to see the old v10's!! They were hard to drive and the power was immense! I love how Vicky comments on the sound. She wouldn't make that comment with a modern f1 car.

That was fantastic. Two brilliant totally different cars designed for totally different driving having a track fusion experience.

Ohhh how much I've missed that glorious, beautiful, magnificent sound!

Absolutely amazing. This has given me a completely new appreciation for Formula 1

She was so excited of that F1 sound and engine working perfectly :-D and also the driver :D I really liked that. Old F1 sound is so awesome.

I love these comparisons, even though I know full well how pointless they are. Really puts your perceptions of what a fast road car is into perspective.

The outcome isn't the point. We wanted to see how badly the BMW got thrashed by the F1 car - how much quicker a lap the F1 car is, how much faster in a straight line, how much better in corners. I like Top Gear but it could never have given us that - it would have ended with something exploding, so nobody's real questions would be answered. There is little real knowledge to be found in Top Gear.

Ah, the V10's. I miss the V10's. Now F1 doesn't have any noise. I hope current speculation of bringing back N/A V8's at least come to fruition.

+LOCKNLOAD6996 Hammond drove in Stowe circuit at Silverstone which is a karting track. Anyway Tiff is a former racing driver, so he was bound to do better than Hammond.

Tiff is the best of the best, a genuine pro racing driver with such charismatic personality.
