After a discussion with Gene Shalit, John Williams conducts Carlos Gardel's famous "Por Una Cabeza" tango (featured in many films, including "Scent of a Woman" and "Schindler's List"). Itzhak Perlman appears as violin soloist. Tango starts at 1:45.

    I love watching Perlmans facial expressions when he plays music like this. He's off in another world where perhaps he isn't crippled. He'll be remembered as one of the very best violists. What an inspiration he is. BRAVO.

    Williams is not arrogant. Everyone who know him agree to say that he is very shy and humble. 'I don't know him', it could mean anything! He does not know him personally for instance. He obviously knows him since he arranged his tango...

    fantastic! i saw perlman play in peoria a few years ago and he was absolutly amazing. He is really an inspiration for me. This tango shows Williams' the length of composing, rather than just for the movie themes we know him for. Even though William didnt write this piece, and the arrangment is still great.

    en algún lugar... escuché que las canciones son creadas para traer recuerdos a la personas.... para crear sentimientos al escuchar algún tema... la verdad... que con esta canción, me hace recordar a mi abuelo fallecido que la tocaba y cantaba con su guitarra. buenísima versión, y gracias por hacerme recordar bellos momentos... :D

    I thought this was great when I first heard it too. I could not understand why people would write on here that they did not like the way he played it. Then one of them suggested listening to some of the other videos and then you could hear the difference when someone does it with more passion. Wow! Were they ever right! After hearing someone else do it with more passion, you will hear the difference.

    Gracias por esta musica singular interpretado por un artista que paseo su musica y su talento por distintas paises,es una Pena que Argentinano le de mas valor a este artista singular e insuperable a traves deltiempo,poco se habla de el y el tango es reconocido mundialmente,por Carlos Gardel ,y su musica. a tantbas decades de su muerte, todavia sage canta y varies peliculas la utiliza para deleitarnos de esa musica compuesta por el inolvidable Zorzal Criollo.
