Awesome breakdown and performance dude! Eoghan is an absolute beast, he's got one of the most difficult guards to pass. I'm a big advocate for outside passing because I know how tiring it can be for the bottom player to constantly recover from the J point, but I find myself tiring as well. How did you feel after the match? I'm sure being a pro athlete explains a lot of your conditioning. lol

@@WilliamTackettBJJ when you were passing to north south going side to side, it seemed like you put more focus on controlling his ankles rather than camping with a hip and knee post? Is this something you like to do in general, or more specifically to shut down his k guard/leg entries?

really impressive showing bro. one thing i noticed, when you jump for front headlock guard pass/inverted north south, do you go straight for that cowcatcher style control with the underhook? never seen that before and thought that was interesting since people seem to favor the overhook/traditional front headlock arm positioning and the cowcatcher style you did seems like it would actually be more effective if you can get it(are you playing it as a dilemma with the overhook?)

I think it’s cuz guys in that weight division don’t have your gas tank is one of the reasons he had trouble with you.

When you passed his guard, were you trying to ride his legs to tire him out, like getting to pseudo half guard (similar to what gordon and craig do)?
@WilliamTackettBJJ

I don’t really play that style actually. You can see in the video I focus a lot more on movement (especially towards the head) in this instance. I feel like if I did, then I’d give Eoghan the chance to play butterfly half. Which I wanted to avoid

Is movement passing to North South "meta" currently?
@WilliamTackettBJJ
7 ай бұрын
Potentially. I’ve only recently started doing it the past year or so. And I wasn’t influenced by anyone to do so, I just find it easier to pass certain guards that way. Maybe the “meta” guard is causing this to be the “meta” passing style. But they you have other people like Joseph Chen who take a completely different approach.
