It is insanity that this man is 87. Not just that he looks 20 years younger, but he so sharp and capable of very sharp, cogent and insightful. Not being funny, but people generally lose their marbles by the time they hit 80. Amazing man, really.

Henry is razor sharp himself and was wowed by Bill's clarity, fun and honesty. What happened between him and Nimoy was between them and has NOTHING to do with us. Darrell Hart I saw a piece lately about Nimoy and it explained the difficulty he had with COPD, so it’s entirely possible that he stopped talking with Shatner (and apparently his own son) for the same reason - just too exhausted to manage it. I saw a late interview in which Nimoy admitted his lifelong friendship with Shatner too, so I’m willing to believe there were no hard feelings between them when Nimoy passed. Personally, I had a dear friend pass from the same condition as an old man when I was just 20ish, and there was a degree of embarrassment he had to put aside just to see me. Perhaps it was the same for Nimoy? That time with my friend was the greatest gift a friend can share. His presence. RIP Mr Relle and Leonard Nimoy. I love them both. And I love Shatner. (Be generous with love and life will reward you!)

The restricted activities of the pandemic have caused me to spend way more time on line than I ever did before. Shatner just turned 90 and he did this interview a couple of years ago, but I guess I clicked on it because the KZread algorithm suggested it, since I just listened to a more recent interview. It was interesting to hear him. I remember I read a book he wrote a few years back, where he said the key to his success is always saying, "yes". "Yes" opens doors. "No", closes them. Smart advice. Fame and wealth have eluded me, but I have a great family. We've been married 47 years and my son and his wife just had twin granddaughters. I can't even imagine what it's like to a successful celebrity, but he seems to be at peace with his life and I hope I can still feel as good about my life, when I'm 90 (18 years from now).

In Canada, the government appoints the Queen's representative in Canada - the Governor General - for a term of 5 years. The Governor General is largely a ceremonial position, but is responsible for conducting the fair and smooth operation of parliament. A few years back, when the Governor General's term was due to expire, there were some serious inquiries into asking / attracting William Shatner to be come the Governor General. Sadly, he said he was flattered, but too busy to take the honor. Over the years, his name comes up in consideration.

Leonard Nimoy's appearance of aloofness from son and William may have been triggered when he was diagnosed with cancer. Those things can really set a person back, to a pause others see as a possible offense taken, when it isn't. Although, I don't know the timing of his discovery relative to Willam's notice of relational aloofness. Something William may want to consider.

7:44 - Negative. It was actually 2 years ago during the Destination Star Trek tour. He might not have spoken to Takei but definitely 'saw him in person'. Why not just admit that he saw him but was so pissed that he refused to acknowledge? Only Bill can tell. But he is not being honest here..

When I tried to move I could not. Its a frightening situation. Yes, I strongly believe people in comas can hear. So if you know someone in this situation by all means talk to them.

He seems like a great guy...BUT, he also has a lot of “falling out” with multiple people. And claims to have no idea why. I think he does know in each case because he’s too intelligent to not be aware. Closest it comes is when he admits that he “is probably difficult at times”. Probably EGO? An actor with ego? So not surprising! It’s not the worst character trait to have... He was part of my youth as I was a Trekkie from the first tv season so I’m glad he’s still with us!

Walter Koenig sheds some light on Shatner/Takei and relationships in general in his interview for American Archives/something/something. Seems that there was something about Shatner that rubbed people the wrong way, but he didn't get into details. Seemed a bit restrained to verbalize it, but he did say Takei was screwed on more than one occasion. Once involving Shatner personally. Interestingly enough Takei seems the one most resentful and bitter, but Koeing considers him very professional and seems to hold him in high regard because of it.

Just speculating, it's a case of "nice guys finish last" and Shatner is not afraid to break a few eggs on the way to making his career omelet. He needs to push his career, image, and brand forward, that's what he's in the business to do, and if he can throw his weight around and move players off camera to make himself look bigger, then he'll do it. Sadly, that does seem to work but loses you possible friends in the process, but who needs friends anyway. And regarding the fued with Takei, it seems to me that Shatner does Takei a huge favor by talking about him during interviews. Shatner makes funny jokes like "I might see him in passing on the one afternoon a week he comes in to do his line." I think Shatner is intentionally doing him a favor that way.
