I love this guy even now .. he’s my all time favorite falcon… God bless you mr. Andrews!
I don’t care if he had a short career, if leroy butler is in canton, andrews should be aswell
One of my all-time favorite players. There were faster running backs, and there were bigger running backs, but NO running back ran as hard as he did. You've heard about the players that play 110% on every play? He set the mark for that statement.
Vote him in the hall of fame

Mine too.
Niner fan here. He was scary. He could dominate a defense by himself. HOF in my opinion and I saw a lot of him over the years.

Even Ronnie Lott said the hardest hit he ever got was from Andrews, enough said…
I was born in 79 , too young to have witnessed this beast of a running back. But I am a life long falcons fan and all I can say is WOW!

Also born in '79 and agree with you 100%! Thanks for watching & commenting.
He was mainly the blocking back at Auburn, for Joe Cribbs and James Brooks, but Falcon scouts must have known he was a lot more than a blocker. Sometimes, it was Andrews - and Gerald Riggs - in the same backfield. That's a powerhouse tandem.

Cribbs, Brooks & Andrews may have been one of the best backfields ever. Too bad the rest of the team sucked when they were there!

He was a lot like Walter Payton. Also seemed to be a class act.
He was awesome. I loved this era of the NFL!
great RB and even a greater person
William Andrews certainly deserves the love. He was an absolute beast. Those late 70's to early 80's teams...ahhhh man, with Lynn Cain as a running mate, too. For a minute there we got to see a really scary backfield
My favorite running back of all-time. A LOT of defensive backs smartly made 'business decisions' when facing Andrews after watching Lott and Steve Wilson get trucked on national television...
Great video of a GREAT Falcon.

Great Falcon indeed. Glad you enjoyed thank you for watching & commenting.
He was the total package
as a Rams fan remember him vividly, great back, I used to know all the stats of the backs of that era. Collected football cards, read the USA today every Monday to see how all the games went, Great times
There were times I would get a lump in my throat watching him play, I was so glad he played for the Falcons and not against them.
Shortened career but should be in the hall of fame.

@@truthiscensored He definitely WAS. He was John Madden’s favorite player in the early 80s. He might not have had the most TDs, but EVERYONE knew that Andrew’s was the NFL’s premiere one-man gang. His only rival in that category during his career was Walter Payton. Payton may have been better as a pure RB, but I’d give Andrews the edge as an all-around player during their peak years…and we all know that Payton was one of the greatest all-around players of all time. Fun facts: Andrew’s has more thousand-yard rushing seasons than Marcus Allen. He also once caught 80+ passes in a season. Until he got hurt, was one of the most productive backs in the league. They didn’t keep stats on pancake blocks either!
If not for injury, sure Hall of Famer!

The greatest screen running back ever, he was a threat to score on every screen. That damn injury ended what would have been a Hall Of Fame career.
He barely carried the ball in college, was a blocker for Joe Cribbs and James Brooks.

Dude could've played right guard.
1984 was such a crap year in football. Three of my favorite players (Kellen Winslow, Billy Sims and of course, William Andrews) destroyed their knees and had their careers cut way too short.

broke my heart when Andrews got hurt. I still can see it on the living room tv screen--even at 64 trips around the funny sun...
@1:12 and 2:56 ya just didnt see someone doing that to ronnie lott, but william did. the city absolutely loved him
William andrews should be in the hall of fame in Atlanta falcons history he is the GOAT of running backs!
William Andrews is still in the top ten in yards gain in the Georgia High School Football Association.
Man these running backs of the early 80s don't get enough shine. It was when the passing game was picking up but there were still some great backs of that period. Andrews, Wilbur Montgomery, Joe Morris, Joe Cribbs, Billy Sims, Freeman McNeil, Curt Warner, Kenny King, Lionel James...
He was the Bernard King of the NFL.
Underrated back
William Andrews was the best ever Atlanta Falcons running back ever from the 1980's!

Him and LYnn Cain were one the best back in the day @ always an Andrew's fan ,I want compare Andrews was all time favorite Favorites RB in the ATL# fan always . Let's go Byrds🎉
Beast
For me, William Andrews was the precursor to Najee Harris
The 1
Its a shame how knee injuries pretty much killed NFL careers, especially running back and fullbacks, in the 80s.
Prince William Andrews
I grew up watching him. He definitely has HOF pedigree, but because the Falcons were rarely in the national spotlight, he was, wrongfully over looked by voters
I sure miss these Falcons uniforms. Current ones trash 🗑️👎They should listen to their fans and go back to these ones..🏈🍺🤙
1980's Falcons was trash, they used to give tickets away for free back then to Falcons and Braves games. Gerald Riggs and William Andrews were ok players not great. Everyone looks like a HOF if you only watch highlights

Riggs & Andrews imo opinion were exceptional players on not so exceptional teams. Riggs led NFL in TD'S in 1991 won Super Bowl & retired original Jerome Bettis style. Andrews a selfless warrior. Appreciate you watching & commenting.

Here we go with the foolishness. People that were around to see Andrews play-like myself-know that he WAS an elite player. As I’ve said elsewhere, he was John Madden’s favorite player and may have very well been the league’s best all-around back from ‘79 to ‘83…running, passing, and blocking. If you compare his production during those years to guys who had his skill set-Payton, Marcus Allen, and Chuck Muncie-he compared VERY favorably. Never mind that the league was RICH with running backs at that time. Yeah, he was stuck on a not so great in the division with Montana, but lots of great RBs have been in that situation: O.J., Payton, Sanders, Sayers, etc.

@@nflxfilesI was excited when he was traded to Washington. His 221 yards against the Eagles in 1989 I wonder if it wasn't for the fumbles and injuries he might have played longer as a starter. Earnest Byner and he were a great running back tandom then.
There will never be another William Andrews. This man was a bulldozer.
He absolutely deserves to be in the hall of fame, No doubt 🏈🏟
