they both seem to genuinely love what they do and each other. Catherine is so happy and pretty. I will never see her queen I imagine as I am nearly as old as Charles and if he lives as long as his mother and grandmother William has a long wait. But you never know. Still, I think they will make a great pair and hopefully can restore some dignity to the family; dignity that has sadly been eroded by the tabloid press and individuals who, unlike the Queen, put their personal needs and peccadillos before their duty. In a side note, even though She is such a great age, (and has trials that no one should or would want, played out in public as they have been) I don’t think the Queen has looked more serene and beautiful since she was a young woman. The colours she is choosing for her public appearances are so pretty and flattering. Her makeup and hair seems even to be better. Such a pity she couldn’t have got whatever advice she has been given, much earlier. She seems to have lost e a lot of weight, though with Andrew’s dilemma, Harry’s saga and The Duke of E. passing, I imagine she is not eating as much. If I believed in God I would say bless her but instead I will say, may she reign as long as she wants to and can still do. I don’t have much to say about Charles except that I feel that he and Camilla will be as good in the role as anyone, and better than some. People compare Camilla to Diana which is so grossly unfair. Camilla is not plain and if Diana was alive her face would be wrinkled by now too. Also, we know that Camilla has been faithful to Charles and has made him very happy. But we will never know if the same would have been true if Diana was still alive and married to him. She was too young, self-absorbed and conniving to have made him happy. She lived for her boys because in many ways she saw them as playmates, because she had never fully matured as she should have. I liked her, and I am sorry she died young but I am not naive about what people are capable of in getting their own way. Everyone forgets that members of the royal family who are in line for the throne have always married for strategic and political gain and not (in the first instance) for love. Even Victoria, who loved Albert so much she went into mourning for 20 years after his death, did not marry him for love but fell in love with him after. Romantic love is a myth and has only been an ideal for the last couple of centuries. People learned to love and care for each other after marriage. But the partnership was almost always, especially in the upper classes of the UK, European and Nordic countries, arranged by family, ordered by protocols and endured by determination. The Current Royal family have been lucky, apart from not being forced to marry other royalty (who may in fact be a distant blood relative) they have pretty much married who they please. Charles was the last of the forced lot and suffered the same unhappy fate as others. He is a product of his upbringing and family and was a lonely child and regardless of what is said of him he turned out to be a pretty reasonable human. Sure he was not faithful to Diana, but she was not either. It is none of our business. It has no bearing on our lives and we should not care. Diana had an enormous amount of experience of royal life. She came from one of the oldest and most distinguished families in Britain. She had been raised as a lady (and except for her parents breakup) she would have had it pretty sweet. Though she was young, even childish, she knew what she was getting into, and could have said no. I was married at the same age and would have been devastated if I found that my husband was in-love with someone else. So for that I really do feel sorry for her. Charles was a malingerer when it came to Camilla and had he used his brain he could have had her but he made her wait and she didn’t want to. But it has worked out in the end. As for the role of king bypassing Charles and going to William as some (frankly idiots) suggest, it is easy to say and extremely hard to do. There has to be an act of parliament for a start. Can you imagine the hoohaa there would be considering how mucky Brexit got. Charles is 74. He will, even if he lives to be 100, only be on the throne for 20 odd years. William will be middle aged and more sure of himself. George will be an adult too, so there is a chance for wisdom there. But when it all boils down to it, the Queen, King or whomever is on the throne, their role is almost an illusion. They do not vote, they do not have any say in politics. They are just there for the opening of things, saying thank you to people who perform for them and handing out awards to people, like knighthoods for musicians! Here endeth the sermon! If you read to here ↕️then thank you and well done. I will write to the palace and ask them to knight you, shall I?
