Will your anchor hold in the storms of life
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

My goodness gracious....from 1973 to 1980 we sang this hymn in our high school...at least twice a week...over 40 years now and it brings tears to my eyes. Oh what an anchor The Lord has been through all these years with all the challenges I faced..he kept me safe and carried me when necessary. Allowing me to succeed in life and to share my experiences with others...little did I know during my teenage years singing this hymn that it would have been so impactful in my adult life...WHAT AN ANCHOR WE REALLY HAVE IN THE STORMS OF LIFE....

My dads song at his funeral 1/03/2023 💔love you dad😥
I am originally from the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific but have lived in Melbourne Australia for the last thirty-three years. I fondly remember this hymn while at high school in Tonga. We used to sing hymns at our daily morning assembly before class and this was one of them. Beautiful memories ❤🙏
I need this old time religion. Such hymns are not often heard anymore. So impactful, and inspiring.

It a sign of the times , churches are compromising with the world, we need to come unto Jesus, for He is coming soon , and then no more darkness of sin , joy in Jesus for eternity!!!

Same here. I’ve been active in BB since I was 5 years old way back in 1987. I just a few weeks away from the joining age back then. But the captain didn’t see any harm in me joining before the prescribed age of 6. I was only 4 weeks away anyhow

Joined the company Bugle Band at 8 on Cymbals. Moved to drum. Moved to Bell Lyre. Finally settled on Bugle. Had many happy memories over the years. Been on many camps in the Bell tents. Setting off before everyone else on an advance party to put all the tents up. Church parades always used to pack out the church on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Extra chairs down each aisle. Us on the right side of the church. Girls Brigade on the left. Congregation in the middle section. Both the BB and GB took up pretty much every single row of seats on our respective sides of the church. Minus two rows which were for any family members of the Boys or Girls in the Brigades. Sadly some people in the church were extremely short sighted in their attitudes towards young people and drove both Brigades away. First the GB then us in BB. Then the organisation that tried to pick up up where the Brigades left off. Now the church is closed down. In the last few years of the church, the only people left were the Vicar. The stewards. The organist. And the only congregation member who just happened to be the captain who let me into BB. He was the 2nd of only 4 captains in that companies history. But along with the 1st captain..... he was one of the founding officers.
I grew up with this hymn since I was a baby. In my teenage years I played this hymn in church. Im now old and still love this hymn.
We sang this at both my mum’s and dad’s funerals. Great Methodist singing was so comforting....
Amen and Amen. We have an anchor that keeps the soul . Thank you Jesus.
This is my late dad's favourite song. As children and high school teens, we used to sing it before going to bed. RIP Mzee Benard Mathew Onyonyi
This hymn brings tears in my eyes every time I hear it Glory to God
Unfortunately it breaks loose. I look for the lighthouse and return to safe harbor and secure the anchor to solid rock. Thank you for this hymn. Greetings from New England USA

I really can't imagine it but God has seen me through the storms of life including conquering the ugly beast called cancer. We indeed have an anchor that keeps the soul.

@proverbspng I found Jesus as my Saviour at Boys Brigade camp on 16th August 2004 when i was a 16 year old boy. Its because of dedicated people such as yourself that didnt give up on the trouble some kids like me and instead prayed for them until they met Jesus as there saviour. May our Lord Bless You and keep you my brother.

@@theaccountwashackedbycriminals what in God’s name was that sulphur you’re spewing out? The Boys Brigade is a Christian uniformed youth organisation. We’re not linked to the military in any way shape or form. We use drill however to teach discipline. teamwork. Encourage leadership skills. Encourage the young people to hopefully have good posture rather than slouching. The bible scripture classes we used to do back in the day were started because Sir William Alexander Smith the BB Founder was a Christian gentleman. He founded the BB because he encountered lots of unruly boys in the Sunday school at his church. He thought that experiences in the Lanarkshire Rifles Volunteers could help him to teach those unruly elements some much needed discipline and respect. Hence the object of the Boys’ Brigade being the promotion of habits of obedience. Reverence. Discipline. Self respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness. I’ve been involved with the BB since I was 5 back in 1987. I’ve been a boy. Officer and now instructor. People like Sir Alex Ferguson. Alex McLeish. Ally McCoist. James Nesbitt. Sir Cliff Richard. And quite a few other celebrities have been involved with the BB too. Alex Ferguson owes everything to the BB. He’s even said that in interviews
Spiritually nourishing . There is something eternal about these hymns !
This hymn means a lot to my sister bkessed memory loves it. She is gone to meet the Lord may she continue to rest in Jesus name. Thank you God bless
What a re-assuring hymn no matter what the storms are. Faith invigorating. Every word carries a message, that we are never alone and the battles of life are not ours , when we look up to Jesus. Halleluiah

I was attached to a BB Company in Belfast. Sadly no longer going. Mind you that was 40 years ago. Many Companies have folded. A sign of the times I suppose. But one of the key elements of the B&B motto which was promoted back then was "...the advancement of Christs Kingdom among boys." Our Captain was a Believer - as am I. "Sure & Stedfast"!
Rest in peace Grandpa. Yours and my favourite church song. I'm glad we both loved this song. When my time passes, this will be mine which hopefully my grandson sings too.
Having a tough time - going back to old favourites I can still sing - enter His gates with praise 🎶🙌

This question comes to us all in this perilous time. Are we anchored onto the Lord so that we will not drift?

Everyone needs this hymn for the storms of life.
This is the question we should ask ourselves as Christians always. Still watching in may 2019.
This is the hymn to sing in this year of 2020.is your anchor strong to hold on no matter what?
One of my favorite as a young Christian girl in church, it's so comforting!! We just lost our dear niece recently 😢💔and this is one of the hymn that I always turn to in the time of trouble. And for all those that are going through some real battles at this time, please let's anchor our lives in God.We are sailing in stormy weathers, we all need Jesus now more than ever.Brethren it's a hard, rough rode ahead but with Jesus in the vessel we can smile at every storms.Be strong in the Lord and in the Power of his Might. Ephesians chap 6
What beautifully arranged words...reminds me of going to church with my Grandmother..Uplifting Hymn of Praise!!!!
Thanks for posting this video. While new to me, this hymn is great and I am pleased beyond words that it has such great meaning to people who have commented. I look forward to singing it with you, though we'll probably have to wait until we meet on the Other Side. God bless you and those you love.

Haven't sung this for years! Wife recalled at devotions time this morning. Amazing truth.
Let's keep our eyes upon our "Anchor in the storms of life." Let's fix our gaze upon Jesus Christ. To look within is to be depressed; To look around, is to be distressed; but to look UP is to be blessed.
Wode Maya made me fall so much in love with this song. The song was his dad's favourite Let me use this opportunity to send my heartfelt condolences to the family of Samson for the pain Delilah caused them 💔 🙏

Fastened to the Rock !! Oh how beautiful are those words...in deed I am happy that I've found Jesus the Rock of Ages
This is my favourite hymn of all. The way I was raised was to judge not and I stand by that. Whether a person of faith or not, it reminds me of how some have to face incredible difficulties in life sometimes alone without much hope, and into the bargain I happen to be a sailor but the greatest storms i have faced are inland.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. Praise God!
