Such an amazing find! We're getting ready for this weekend's New Harmony, Indiana antique show and appraisal fair, and remembering a few really unusual items that crossed our desk there the last few years!
First is a scandalous art deco lamp, the "It Girl" personified in lighting! Angel wings and devil horns have confused a lot of people as to the sweet nature of this piece, we're able to help the lucky buyers understand what's behind her devil-or-angel personna...and why they were smart to pay $26 for it!
Then a dealer presents us with a book that we've never seen before...so why does it not seem complete somehow? Watch and learn along with us as we reveal why Civil War vets flocked to help their commander in his dying days with this important historical record.

The "IT" lamp sold for $2,283 without the glass in 2020. My goodness what a treasure. You're right, so many lovely things in people's homes. Fun.

People seem to be turned off by the attributes of the female deco lamp. They don’t understand Classical Greek mythology and statuary. Everyone should at least expose themselves to a bit of art history. Amazing what survives.

I agree, I think they missed the point...but the people in the know definitely know better! It's worth over $2000 as it turns out

The commemorative piece for Gettysburg: who was pictured on the piece? You were talking about Grant at the time but Grant wasn't anywhere near Gettysburg.

It was a 50th anniversary commemorative and they chose Grant as the head of the Army to adorn the piece, probably because they figured a lot of people by then were fuzzy on the details of the war
