Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

Hi. I’ve been watching your videos for years now. Sea moss is something I use in soaps regularly, especially in my unscented facial bars. I use a large container with a lid, rinse well and over saturate the sea moss with room temp distilled water and let it soak for at least 23-36 hours. Check on it and add more water if necessary. If it has not at least doubled in size, it’s not ready. When creating the gel purée with water and add more water as necessary until your purée is smooth. It should be pourable until it sets. I also add it to the soap batter, not the lye solution or oils. Hope this helps 😊

I just found sea moss powder at Walmart yesterday. The only ingredient Is pure Irish Sea moss. Said it had 114 servings per container. Very small container maybe 8 ounces top. Not cheap it was $19. But I bought it anyway. I have had success with dried sea moss but after watching your journey I have to see how this works. Fingers crossed!

Losing a pup is a really tough time, I’m sorry. 💜 We had a French mastiff that lived to 13 or 14 as well. Sign of a good life.

It seems that the sea moss did make a difference, because the lye solution was brown, and it took a long time to trace. Dont know if it did anything good, but it did something

Have you tried simmering it in distilled water on a low simmer? That worked great for me.

Wait....I missed the part where you weren't even getting a gel... So even after you blend it you don't get a gel? The process is to rinse it thoroughly, soften it overnight (a lot of people say in spring or alkaline water?), then blend it the next day with that water. I don't think it just turns to gel by soaking alone...
