You have to prime the pump by pouring gas into the lines or by using a mityvac to pull gas up to the pump
@Tryant69

Also fill the float bowl of the carb and pour little bit in the throat right?
@nukerman7777

Or just pour a bit down the carb and then the engine can use vacuum to suck the fuel up instead of the pump trying as the engine has more vacuum then the pump

I didnt know what to think about the Opel at first but damn these are cool videos. I like how you show the whole process, fails and all. Makes it relatable.

hey Rob why dont you do a full color change and respray on the Jasmine , send it to a body shop and get the body kit professionally fit and molded to car.
Keep your head up guys! You still made progress on the build even if it hasn't started yet!

Thanks for the content Robbie, the world needs it right now
when robbie said 200k subs I was shocked ive been watching since jasmin was first introduced and I gotta say this man deserves more subs!!!!!!!
Felt good to see a video that covered as much stuff as your first videos. This one was packed full of content, and really felt like we were participating in the build. Good job robbie.
In quarantine here in Italy. Thankfully Robbie is a real champ and makes videos for me to enjoy. Cheers!

Awesome as always, im staying committed to my videos too, its hard with everything that is going on but im still growing slowly. 👍keep moving forward robbie!
3 weeks ago i spun a bearing in my 2013 brz almost def the recall but the dealership wont take fault im now an 3k in the hole trying to fix the damn thing. I have a salvage car w a donor motor coming this week hopefully
Check out the fuel pump! Bypass the fuel tank with a bottle direct to the carburetor . Add some fuel direct to the carburator and start it. If it doesn't start, check the spark plugs for spark. If they don't have spark, it's the distribuitor .
Keep up the amazing work love the videos
hey robbie, ALL the info you need will be in that haynes manual. people our age don't typically read books but when you become a mechanic and start doing restoration work, they come in SUPER handy, much better than google. especially for odd vehicles such as that. all haynes manuals have a guide on engine overhaul, that's where you'll find the vacuum/vent line routing. best place to start looking is the index. (very back of the book, just incase you don't know) look for terms such as 'carby vaccum lines' or 'vaccum/vent line schematic' eventually you'll find something relating to exactly what you need. i recently fixed up and modified a mini using these manuals and they are amazing, didn't use google once
Wohoo another video! This remindes me I need to finish my latest Manta video and upload it :D Awesome video man!
Perfect timing to see this right as it goes up
Doing that with a Haynes manual, and the internet. Good luck with that.
Love the great content bro keep it up

Man I love these kinds of videos, that's a lot of content. You should definitely get an old car like this for yourself!
Have an opel so nice content bruv
Check to make sure that the fuel pump doesn’t have a vapor lock. You can put fuel in a water bottle and pour it in the carb a bit at a time which would help you with seeing if the spark plugs are firing and at the same time will help you find if you have correct firing pattern.
Love the videos ✌🏎
Try spraying brake clean or starting fluid into the carb to get it started because the pump won’t start working until it has a little help from the engine!!
Loved the longer format on this video! But I love most of the videos you post so that is probably not that big of a surprise.
That's maybe wirering for opel manta b oko ascona a or b
Favourite car youtuber :)
Hey Robbie, I was working on a 61 studebaker a while back, and we used a water bottle with some gas in it with a hole in the cap. Use that to prime the carburetor, it will start the motor for a bit and then you can clean the fuel pump and usually make them work again. In my experience at least! Best of luck man! Love the videos!
Starter fluid, throttle plate cleaner, spray something into the throttle body, once it gets running on that for a little while it will use vacuum pressure to pull fuel and the distributor driven pump will actually work. This is old school stuff boys. Works completely different.
It won’t suck fuel through until it’s running so you wanna try and start it with easy start, even brake cleaner will work, spray very small amounts into the intake as you crank it
Yo I'm late to comment but I know yall were making educated guesses while wiring up your ignition console. That is in charge of priming and starting the fuel pump. Locate the fuel pump and ensure your wiring from ignition to the fuel pump looks solid before you go replacing the pump. No doubt with a car that old chances of failing fuel pump is high but just make sure wiring is on point too. :) love the restoring content. Super nice switch up since the s10 has been out of the loop for a while

I can't wait to see that old man's smile when he sees his car running. Keep working hard guys you'll get it done soon, you can do it! We believe in you!
it's a mechanical pump, you shoud swap it for an electric for reliability
Longer videos are so much better especially with the lockdown and all. Keep it up bro 👍
Keep it up yous are so close 👍👍
30mins on content is perfect 15mins just leave us wanting more
Can confirm, subscribing to robbie is lit, and you should totally do it
I wrench on muscle cars constantly. The diaphragms in the pump rot out when sitting for long periods of time. A lot of old pumps run off the cam on the side of the block. Of that one runs off the distributor gear make sure it's proper. Might not be put in properly. Stay safe. Steve from Ontario
You have to prime the pump or spray starter fluid in the carb because just cranking it wont build enough vacuum to pull fuel
When this man gets his car, he may not know Robbie, but he’ll be able to feel the love put into his car. Great work!
Only take cash...literally the dirtiest form of payment on Earth!!!!! Yep, we're ready! 🤣
I think you should have at least 5,000,000 subs you so good
Take the line off the side of the carb, connect the hose to some kind of bottle(gear oil bottle with pointed tip works best) cut top off the bottle and fill it with fuel. It will gravity feed fuel into the carb should be able to start it like that for testing until you find the fuel pump
Robbie can post literally anything. I’ll watch it #CommittedCrew
Noti Ganggg!
Hey. Since it's a carburated engine, the fuel pump is all mechanic, and doesn't need wiring at all. Instead it runs with vacuum, so it'll need vacuum line. In the video it doesn't show, and I believe you guys figured it out already, but if not, I hope this comment helps. Keep up the good work and the great content, we need you guys in these shady times. Stay commited! :D

@@chandrakusumoputro5867 i thought of that too 😂
You are such a good inspiration. I wish i could be you.
I got a 30 year old Nissan sunny b13....old cars are fun
It’s a mechanical pump and a one wire sensing unit to the tank for the gauge
You should have put some gas in the carb... then it would have fired up ... it needs more rpm FOR the pump to suck the gas from the tank
that line that goes to the distributor is the vacuum line when vacuum works it advances the ignition point
Even though you don't need to clean up the rusty parts, I think you should still check to see how badly their rusted, it'd suck ass if a bracket was super rusty and just falls off in a few months while driving, and making a simple aluminum one to replace it would be pretty quick and easy.
Nice video! :)
Fill the float bowl on the carb. Those pumps need rpm before they develop flow
@jarridkowalenko8334
4 жыл бұрын
And make sure the carburetor doesn't have any weird solenoids
If there is gas in the tank pressure the tank with some compressed air to get fuel to the pump itself, a mechanical fuel pump does not like to pump air. It needs some type of liquid
@Robbie Get 2 Spots for underneath the lift, so we can see better what you are doing under the car and allso just easier for you
LOL, I knew you were in the Abbotsford area just based from all the Drone footage you shot. That Bank run totally confirms it! :P
could just be a bad pump depending on if its one of the original pumps or not the internal diaphragam maybe bad from sitting so long i would just replace it on general principal. love the vids keep up the good work
Notify squad!🎉
blue looks so good in the lift.....miss the subi blue....
23!!!
Make sure you don't have the fuel return and fuel flow back wards. And to see if it will run spray some brake parts cleaner or starting fluid Down the barrel and see if it fires if not means you don't have spark or your firing order is backwards.
YOU REALLY NEED TO DO MORE CLASSICS. THEY HOLD A HUGE PART OF MY HART.
maybe that harness is for a late model manta (80's/90's manta b)
Omfg i am one week not on yt and you are rebuiding my favorit car.😂😂 Really like the color cant wait to see it done.
Lemme just say what a fresh cut that is like bro fire hair
You probably need a new fuel pump, these old mechanical opel pumps have a "ruber" mambrane in it, witch hardens when it sits a long time without fuel. There's 2 kind of pumps, one it's not fixable, other one you can take apart and change the membrane. Because it's a old car and probably it's hard to get this parts new, upgrade to a electric fuel pump for carburetors. Sorry if I'm spelling something wrong, I'm from Croatia and like what you're doing on your channel. Just continue like this!
I know you might not read my comments but it feels nice to just tell you that you are doing a great gob Robbie
Yo
Pour cap full of fuel in carb also should test for spark
0:25 he who must not be named is back
The clear fuel filter u can use that to see if there's gas there if not then pull the fuel line off the carburetor after the fuel filter that way u can crank it over and see if any gas will come through the line into the filter
See more vids the better stay committed baby peace
What you guys need is “an old school mechanic” as you’re used to everything being electronic you’re over looking how basic an engine is. Take the distributa, is it at top dead centre with piston 1? It might just need a twist. As with the fuel, is the feed and return round the right way? Is any fuel getting to the pump?
