Hi Nic its Pete. I am so happy you got the CD cleaned up & you can now resell it. Fantastic video, thank you.
Been using the Ezbuff pad for a while ( thanks for the link Nic ) and resurfaced a good 50+ discs on the same pad. The wear seams just the same as an original jfj pad.

I was wondering if they would last as long. Thanks for sharing. I’m a brand new JFJ EP user, so still experimenting and looking for any tips.

Do you use the sandpaper? I noticed in the video he only used the buffing pad with the blue compound and it did the job. I have a JFJ but getting the supplies is a pain in the... I´m thinking of getting the meguier polish and compound they are easy to get here in Europe. And get the pads from the seller on ebay in this video. Only the sandpaper I can only find in the US.
It's good to have an alternative as the official supplier ran out of stock of machines , pads and solutions for a large part of last year.

Honestly the solution literally just looks like car polish 😂😂 which performs just about the same function.
I found this channel while making a purchase on Ebay for the first time using Argos Collect/ Royal Mail. They delivered this Tuesday an hour early but Shop wasn't open till 8.30am, now waiting for a re-delivery...crikey...£1000 graphic card?! So hopefully eventually Argos get it - but anyway I like watching your videos. Both of you easily have the looks, abilities and attitude to get jobs in the office or as part of a management teams 🤔
Have that same Elvis CD [outtakes and rehearsals from his legendary '68 Comeback Special] with the same issue [thankfully, still plays]. Worth mentioning, Nic, it's on the official FTD Elvis collectors label [a subsidiary of Sony - but cannot be bought in shops]. Worth about £15-£20 second hand.
One thing I want to add to this, is that after putting around 50 discs through my JFJ, that the pads (either original or these alternatives) last so much longer if you get the pads slightly damp with water before using them and lightly misting water in between discs. I have yet to encounter the wear that everyone else sees on these pads the point where you have to replace them. Also, after using the JFJ and putting it away for storage if you're done with your disc collection for the time being - I always clean my pads thoroughly with warm water. Griot's Garage makes a "Pad Cleaner" solution that you mix into a bucket of water which also helps with some stubborn compound/polish and also helps the foam last longer because it also conditions the pads. Then you can either wring them out by balling them up in your hand, or put them in the JFJ without a disc and run it for 10 seconds and they're perfect to put back in the bags they came in. One other thing I would add, is that since I got my JFJ used, it didn't come with the compound, but did some with a small bottle of the polish and I found it doesnt do the best job at polishing. So i went and used some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish and my tests discs came out looking nearly perfect. My only minor criticism about these pads - and because I'm a perfectionist as a part-time auto detailer - is that these pads are a bit too hard to use on discs. While again, the Meg's Ultimate Compound and Polish do amazing work, the discs still have some VERY MINOR holograming from the polishing process, which do not affect playback of any disc, but I think it has a lot to do with why the discs aren't as perfect. It SO CLOSE to being a perfect refinish that I think simply using a softer pad will really restore discs to a factory-fresh appearance. im currently waiting on getting a new shipment of polishing pads for my auto detailing side-gig and hope that maybe using one of the extra black ultra-soft finishing pads and adapting it to the jfj might actually be the ticket. It works on really soft piano black interior pieces on cars and the shiny plastic B-pillars of some cars.

Where can I get cheap polishing pads ?

Where do you get them from? I can't find them for sale anywhere. Or is there another alternative you use?
unfortunately these are a bit too expensive for me since I live in Australia and postage is too much but I'm thinking that I might be able to modify some car polishing pads to fit in the machine
I use polishing compound 2 always, but the thing is that the arm that holds the disc - it presses down with too much force, which can create the swirl marks as it chews up tiny bits of sponge. So what I did was that I took out the spring (you just pull the spring down, and then get the one end of the spring out and then like unscrewing a screw, twist the spring around and around to feed it out of its location) then cut the spring in half and put the spring back in. It pushes down then with just enough force, you may need to polish again for a bit longer, but it doesnt shred up the sponge as much. Or if you dont wish to cut the spring just find a similar spring that is half the length and try it out. Next tip is sanding. it is better to buy 1200 grit sandpaper sheet, and then just sand the disc yourself and using a little spray of water on the disc, and then with your finger just sand the parts that need sanding. Dont use the sanding pads. They are ok, but often you dont need to sand the whole disc, and because of the heat and pressure of the spring it creates plastic dust that gathers around the security section of the disc, and it build up there and never seem to polish out as it grinds in the plastic dust into the centre of the disc. When you have less sponge bits and no plastic dust inside the machine then, with a little paintbrush you can re use the fluid in the machine by dipping the brush into the used polish and spreading it back on the disc or several other discs. An alternative to compound 2 is just using some car polish like ultimate compound etc, similar results. Also if you don't have one of these machines and are looking for an alternative, the method is just to get one of those silicone baking trays that you use to make a cake sponge, and put the disc in there, and then buy polishing pads for a drill and just use the car polish and a drill to polish the disc, the fluid will spray around the edges of the tray keeping the mess contained and the silicone keeps the disc in place ok, you can keep your thumb on the disc and clean one side at a time is best.
I didn’t even know that was possible!! Wow!
Thanks for the video - will try some of those pads as have just purchased one of these machines. Just wondering if you can use hook&loop sanding discs, since the sanding pads seem to have hook&loop on both sides. I’ve found that the adhesive sanding discs come off mid spin when the adhesive gets weaker.
Great video and very good content 👍💙💚❤️🤗
Nice nick will be buying some of them 😊👍 also where the nut screws on to hold the disc I use a piece of cloth to fit in between to protect the disc
Would also like to see a regularly scratched disc tested as well.

Interesting, do u have a link to the ones you are buying, cheers
Wow I just bought one of these not too long ago. And then you posted this 🤔
As a reseller, I buy reusable wool and foam pads the auto detailers use. For compound and glaze I use Meguiars 105 and 205 and get excellent results. Never wipe the disc in a circular motion. Only use quality microfiber polishing towels to wipe disc. One to remove the creams, another to polish.

@@laosteu which one exactly? Do you have a link or the measures so I can order from Aliexpress or something similar
What was ebay's response when you spoke to the management about the suspensions etc, did you have our backs??
I have a question given that these are just a circular foam pad with a bit of felt at the bottom could you not just go to the craft store and buy those same materials and make your own? Which I assume would be a bit cheaper than buying the pads or the alternative.
What replacement sanding discs do you use?
They also sell 3rd party compound on ebay have you tried it? Do you need the sand paper because I saw u only used one compound and what spray do you use at the end? I was trying to order from jfj but the shipping costs are rediculous
What happened with ebay?
Nic do you have a video on making multi item listing like if i have 100 game i can do 1 listing
I can't find these pads on American Amazon and the listing on our eBay is in GBP instead of USD. They want like $18 just for shipping a single pad.
how many DVDs can you make with one buffing ? thanks
There's only £1 difference in price between these and the official pads from the UK distributor and £1.50 per pad when bought as a pair (£16.99 compared to £19.99 for the official pads) but good to see an alternative nevertheless. As an alternative to the #2 white compound, I use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. There's next to no difference in price but I seem to use less and the finish is better in just one run (I still see fine lines when I use the #2 compound espcially having sanded the disc first).....plus there's a nice cinammon scent.

I keep an eye on Halfords as they regularly put Maguires ultimate compound on offer at half price then just buy 3 or 4 bottles. You save loads as a bottle last ages

Amigo las almoadillas de pulido de que material son ?
Did her cd play well ??.
Does anyone know of a UK or EU supplier for a replacement JFJ easy pro pocket (Part that holds the pad)? importing from the US is too expensive for a $20 part
Hi do You have a link please?
The link isn't available anymore 😕
it can also be used as a potato piller
Anyone else missing the picking and packing videos? Still great content though
Hello, I would like to ask what is the power of this machine in watts?
Disc rot is a breakdown on the reflective layer rather rather than damage to the playing side and can’t be repaired. This cd has obviously been stored badly at some point. Very impressed with the machine though!
@vnvmode

Nothing to do with storage, I have seen quite a few pressings with this exact damage.... sometimes a CD buff can remove most of it.
@skeetabix36

This was my CD, I bought it new & it was in perfect condition. It has only been played once & always been kept in a protective sleeve. I have had a few of FTD CD's that have this issue. Just type in FTD CD rot into google to find out more info
That Elvis CD does not have CD rot...CD rot is de-lamination and oxidation of the silver top foil which usually results in fogging of the top foil reflective capacity, or more commonly the top foil will get pinholes which is also a form of CD rot........The crazing and crap on the bottom of that CD looks like some genius tried to fix a scratched CD with a headlight repair kit........Not the first time I have seen someone try to use a headlight repair kit solution or Polyclear (which is used to fix watch crystals), watches and headlights are not plastic, they are glass (for headlights) and either crystal or glass (for watches).......True CD rot can never be repaired.

Don't know if its just me, but the easy Pro is a very cheap to run machine, so trying to save money on the cheapest to run disc cleaner, seems like you are running out of ideas. Try saving money on consumables on an ECO Pro 2 is impossible with in built limit chips they have on them.

I just bought one of these machines at a thrift store. Are you still able to find these knock off pads?
