Hip Hop has always been a reflection of what's going on, it's a social political movement so yes you're seeing a lot of depressed people making music as an escape or rapping about their surroundings which are violent and chaotic.

He created it mate and the original was historical in the aussie rap scene, it’s these new gutter rappers that can’t finish it as they can’t make a song in a week lmao. They’re that cracked out of their minds the only time they’re writing anything is when they’re beaming for a few days and then they’re useless and asleep for the rest of the week. Wombat is the biggest exception as his lyricism is light years ahead and a good mate of mine as is Flea, although AJ is a bit washed up unfortunately but still pathed the way and was a massive influence on the new generation.
