What is needed is for pharmaceutical companies to develop an anti-VEGF drug that can be delivered as drops instead of injections.

I have monthly lucentis injections in both eyes, and although it's not high on my list of favorite things, l must say that the spreader thingy to hold the eye open (the Clockwork Orange clamp, as l call it) is more uncomfortable than the injection itself. Aside from that, the only inconvenience, and a minor one at that, is that on occasion, for a few hours afterward, l see floaters that l can best describe as looking like sliced black olives. Kind of puts me in the mood for a pizza.

Very minimally intrusive. Is that like saying, “this won’t hurt a bit?” Cause that is like Latin for, lookout here comes some hurt. I have heard that the sterilizing solution used to keep the eye injection area sterile during the procedure hurts like the dickens after the numbing agent wears off. Soap in the eye may not seem like any big deal. But anyone who has gotten soap in their eyes before, know that is it not please. At least you can wash the soap. But the sensation, i..e., irritation likely takes a good while to go away. Sugar-coating this procedure does not benefit the patient one iota.

Mine was fairly painless. You are given eye drops that you need to take every hour and on the day I receive the injection my eye became a little bloodshod. But having slept it off - it felt much better the next day. you are warned to stay away from dust, not to swim for a week or get soap or shampoo in your eye. what was a bit awkward and effected my breathing was having to wear the covid mask whilst a sterile cover was placed around my face and eye as the injection was administered but this was only momentary .

I have a question,,,,,,,i suffer from AMD ,i have been having injections for 10yrs on a monthly basis, ,i was first injected with lucentis, then 2yrs ago that changed to , ' eylea'. since the change i have had 4 eye strokes, apart from other side effects, as i have a very strict diet of 'whole food plant based' there is nothing in my diet to cause eye strokes, my question is, are the eye strokes isolated to my eyes only, or , does eylea some how thicken my blood, therefore putting me at greater risk,

Dr. Shah, what about the medications? I have read that they really are not all that effective. So, a person risks eye infection for a medication that may not actually work very well. Add to this the cost factor. From what I understand some of these medications are very expensive. With health care going down the tube, how are many of us who have minimal health care supposed to afford these treatments?

Dr. Shah, I have got eye injections. Sometimes it irritated as if there was a dust particle. I found a patch for a few hours 6-8 hrs. was helpful. Can the eye be flushed with an antibiotic to prevent infection while the patch is used for 6-8hrs? Why are some physicians Okay, but some resist?

My injections (I've had two so far) have hurt a LOT...so much, in fact, it made me slightly nauseous during the few seconds (it felt a lot longer)...Any thoughts on this? The first injection was a nightmare...I didn't know what to expect...Apparently, the betadine had not been washed out of my eye enough...I had a burning stinging sensation until 3AM the next morning...ten hours of constant burning pain...Yes, I was told that the medical assistants should have washed out my eye with saline...Because it was my first time, I assume it was part of the treatment and I would just have to deal with it ...And I did...Thoughts on any or all of this?

The injection itself doesn't, you only feel pressure, so far I had 4 injections in one eye an one in the other. After the injection I do feel a little ache on the injection site, the next few hour I drip and see a black circle and feel like sand in my eye for a day or two. In one of the injection I got a sty and with the last one a broken blood vessel that was bad looking, the eye sty was painful. But nothing compared to the laser, so far I'm not seen any better.

My eye BURNS as soon as the meds are injected to the point where I get headaches over my eyebrow I get nausea and I get very bad reactions to some, but the pain is like a hot poker from a fire being jabbed in your eye as soon as you get the medication in it’s terrible and I have to sit down for half an hour or more before I can move because the waves of pain in my head and the nausea are unbearable!!!!

I get these done every 8 weeks. I'm very sensitive to the betazynme solution , and the anaesthesia that was being used. Thankfully, we were able to try alternative anestehsia and we found one that doesntt sting. I described getting the drops one time as laying upside down and having a lit match under your eye. Then the Betazume would make every eyelasth sting like I had needles in those. The actually injection I hardly feel and anything I do feel is more just the eye being pushed, but Im used to that. So the anaesthesia works. I tend to have to sleep it off for 4 hours but if I have no reaction to the drops, I can cut that to 2. But I wouldn't try driving after the injection, no way. I'm starting on a new medication next injection, VABYSMO

Had mine done a few hours ago, I was so scared! Crying every time someone asked if I was okay 🤣🤣 it was so scary and I was shaking the whole time. But I didn't even feel it! The needle took about 2 seconds, I was shocked and was like are you really done?! The pain afterwards though is horrible! I feel like I have a grain of sand in my eye and soap. My eye is pouring with water constantly. I was advised to sleep after it and I found it really difficult as it hurts even with my eyes closed, I did eventually get to sleep but when I woke up I felt really drained. Hopefully the pain is a lot better tomorrow, I look like I'm crying constantly 🤣

I've been getting these shots for the last 5 years. They only help for about 2 months till you have to go back and do it again. This procedure is very painful during and after plus the few days you need to let your eyes heal. It doesn't happen o er night. These doctors aren't gonna tell you the truth about the process nor do they know how this feels. This is their solution when they can't figure out what's really going on. Again been doing this for 5 years now I'll be 39 next month

Oh and everytime I go there's somebody new injecting me. Not everyone is as good as the last. Ive left there with busted blood vessels or sometimes my eyes weren't that numb from the drops so I can feel the needle poking through. Imagine a fork poking a cherry tomatoe.

Do injections reverse scarring of the retinas or do they simply stop/prevent further damage? I am severely diabetic, have end stage liver disease, and issues with blood pressure. I have previous damage and scarring as well as hemorrhaging to 70% of my retinas as well as cataracts beginning to form. I am soon to begin inections twice a month in both eyes. Will I need to wear eye patches as I have severe photophobia. The degeneration began less than two years ago and I am told that without quick invasive treatment I will be blind within a year. Please respond asap.
