    This is a real heavy duty job and if I was the owner I think I would have had the main house demolished and started again from scratch. You guys are doing a quality job and I take my hat off to you all. I thoroughly enjoy this series on this house. Keep the good work up guys 👍🙂

    @@mrbluesky2050 Then it would be a boring new build, making good 90+ year old faults in the original house and dovetailing a new extension is more interesting, also with flatten and rebuild we wouldn’t see a video for about two years with planning/waiting services/builders on different jobs.

    I'd have got concrete in as soon as possible. I've had a job that the digging took longer than expected and I couldn't concrete until the Monday morning. It rained all weekend, and come Monday, the trenches had collapsed.

    No need for any apologies guys, you are completely up against it regarding the work needing to be done. Good progress in the last few weeks, I'm guessing you took around 200 tons of debris away too !! Love it, all sorted now, heading in the right direction at last. Wicked.

    How would you price something like this? hats off to you. Lots of people on site for a long period of time, plus the cost of materials now 😳 hope the client has deep pockets 😁

    Question from an observer with zero knowledge - wouldn’t it be cheaper to just knock the whole thing down and start from scratch, sticking to the existing footprint? Would be built to newest regs, zero complications and got to be faster?

    Seem a real serious shame you weren't able to get a few squatters in whilst you were away in the hope they'd finally demolish the place eh! 😁 If only eh... that way you'd have been able to get some real bigger toys on site to get things moving. But thems the breaks. 😉 Just hope the clients last out the delays and don't cack themselves too much over the process.

    Do you take out the bricks as there will be a point that will not be cover with concrete at the bottom if you don’t. I thought stand offs would be used designed to keep the point of contact to a minimum?

  • @mrabuilders6723

    @mrabuilders6723

    The concrete will be poured and go around the mesh as the concrete is poured. If the mesh sat on the dirt it would be right at the bottom close to the base of the footing which wouldn’t be ideal.

    You mentioned Adam was no longer with you? Is that temporary or permanent? Rich and Adam are a great team, don’t want to to see the team split. That would be like when John Noakes split with shep the dog, or when Wallace left Gromit 😂😂

    So why is there a 'dog leg' in the retaining wall footings ?

  • @Sean006

    @Sean006

    5 ай бұрын

    We found out in a later video when it all went pear-shaped. Well spotted! 👍 Apparently the dog leg was to protect a tree and not undermine it's roots. I'm not sure if the dog leg was in the structural engineer drawings. But when the wall was built the customer was annoyed.....but this was one of several problems. Looks like customer dreams bumped up against the reality of the site and builder got the boot.

    Hi lads, I've got a samll issue I thought you guys could help me with. I've laid my OSB roof on my Dorma flat roof, I've left a 3mm gap between the boards but I'm worried about the gap lines showing through the rubber roof. I'm regretting leaving a gap now! Is there anything I can fill the joints with so the joints don't show through? Like a tape or filler/ sealant etc. Any advice would be much appreciated 👍 Cheers

  • @mrabuilders6723

    Hello mate, hope you're well. We always try and leave a small gap too and we've never noticed it showing through so I wouldn't worry. If you like you could go for the thicker rubber but that's only thicker by point something of a millimetre and is more heavy and expensive so again I wouldn't worry. As long as all your board edges are flush and the fixed down with proper fixings like there's no tomorrow...then sleep easy my friend!

    @mrabuilders6723 thanks for the reassurance matey, we've nailed it down with 60mm ring shank nails so it shouldn't be going anywhere, might add a few extra before we put the rubber roof on, just need a nice sunny day. Thanks for the reply 👍
