Will Switch OLED Deep Clean Fix This Joy-Con Connection Issue?

Ғылым және технология

The left Joy-Con will connect for a few seconds, then lose connection. I see a bunch of gross gunk in the speaker screens. I am wondering if the connection issue has to do with something that got spilled on this Nintendo Switch OLED. Let's give it a deep clean and see what happens!

Just a tip; you can buy toothbrushes with super thin bristles, it is really great for cleaning smaller cracks and crevices, like the ones around the screen on the Switch.

So very satisfying Robert. These newer systems are so complicated. Can't hardly wait for the next video.

Thanks for another relaxing video. Just for the info you can pull out pin from a joycon rail and there is a small pcb that can be gunky too. Had this problem on my own switch

Awesome job! It's incredibly satisfying to watch and do this kind of work, and it's especially impressive when you're dealing with very small components

Another great video! Did you say why you chose a different thermal paste this time or did i miss it?

10:22 to remove large amounts of thermal paste, it is much better to use an ordinary paper towel instead of wasting cotton swabs ;) but in both cases, you MUST clean the rest of the thermal paste with IPA (so as not to mix the remnants of the old paste with the new one later)

From cleaning things personally I've come to find out that if alcohol doesn't work away at a certain substance and you need to scrape it off then resort to either a lower % alcohol or some sort of cleaner or even just water. Sometimes, water can dissolve stuff that alcohol can't. Alcohol works great on adhesive, but works poorly against stuff like sugar. I'm just assuming you use 99% alcohol.

I just got a brand new switch oled, and it had the same issue. since it's a couple of days old, i don't think gunk would be a factor into this problem. It connects well with pro controllers and wire controllers, but it seems to have an issue with any joycon controllers with it either not working at times or disconnecting often.

You didn’t put the perfect amount of thermal paste, but it will do. 😅 Besides that, great video. I do worry about the makeup brushes because the hairs are known to fall out.

Man, I wonder what on earth that stuff was. It had to have been something like a weak liquid adhesive or a medium viscosity syrup or something. Or who knows, could be almost anything. What a nightmare! As a side tip, you could cut down one of the other makeup brushes (I assume you got a cheap set) so that it has short bristles, which can let you have more pressure like the cotton swabs. In the GameCube video at 4:20, the 2nd from the right might be good for this (or the 4th or 5th from the left).
