My aunt worked with Will a few times as an extra. She said he is such an amazing person, kind to everyone and interacts with everyone. She said if he had shrimp and lobster during breaks and meal times, everybody had it. Very generous. Sure, he can afford it, but many celebs are actually pretty stingy with their money. He also kept a promise to his grandmother that his music would never be graphic and contain poor language. This is a solid guy, a stand up man and has features about him that we should should all strive to have.

I can second this. While he was filming in NY, he stayed in my apartment building in NJ. He went to the gym twice a day and spoke to everyone. I even got a picture with him. He is so personable that he even yelled my name out when I went to the gym in the evening as I was surprised he even remembered it. We had tons of celebrities and athletes stay in my building but none was as friendly and engaging as Will. He’s one kind for sure.

It serves a purpose & can be enjoyable to a point or a burden if you don't leave room to be yourself. Being your true self can become a burden for others because they can't handle it & don't want to adjust. People who don't truly care for you want you to remain ONLY the character because it's easier for THEM.

It’s easy to judge others from behind a phone, but hard to put yourself and your faults out there for everyone to see. I think in this day and age, transparency is refreshing because life is better when it’s lived authentically. Since most people are used to seeing perfection everywhere, when someone shows their failures, it’s uncomfortable to people. I’m glad Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are keeping it real and showing people that life is not always going to be perfect. You’re going to have ups and downs but the most important thing is to focus on the good.🚀

Any healthy person knows everyone has strengths and weaknesses, things they are unconscious of and things they are working to improve. Only unhealthy people (narcissists) project an image of perfection for the world and expect others to be perfected without flaws (not talking about the abuse which is more than a flaw). Self revelation regarding ‘authenticity’ in a public forum is just a pr exercise. People who are living authentically don’t need to make money off how ‘authentic’ they are nor do they stand on a soapbox to preach and look for self congratulations about how authentic they are. wow, you have really been punked on this.

A nice interview... I liked the behind-the-scenes shots of the monitor and the honesty they both shared. I plan to watch the full interview later today and will check at the local library for this new book by by Will Smith.

🥴🥴🥴 But when the rumors were it's him cheating y'all told Jada it rains everywhere but cause Jada won't cling to him through the emotional and psychological rollercoaster like other wives do, it's will say "bye Jada!" Got it. It's only okay to men when the person abused is a woman...

I agree with you totally Mfululizo. What people don’t see are the many years Jada has had to internalize her pain. Now she is freeing herself, while he finally works on himself.

@@catrathat08 exactly!!! But in this world, when a woman doesn't become emotionally dependant on the man for her happiness when he emotionally neglects her and publicly shames her, it's a problem. The 'ride or die' narrative only conditioned to women that even when it's your partner hurting you, you stay. Nah-ah!

@@mfululizowak9899 - Jada slept with a sick young boy. I'm sure Will is not perfect, but Jada's actions were inexcusable. When a man does what Jada did, he is the worse thing on Earth and women want the man jailed. Lol.

This is a fantastic interview and also very surprising to hear Will talk about his childhood and I just loved what Hoda said at the very end. Will is one of my most favorite actors! I mean he has just never made an "ok" movie at least as far as I am concerned.

When he says that dichotomy breaks a young mind; he is preaching the gospel of our lived experience and Jada is his father. He will never be good enough and he thinks he deserves her derision. He doesn’t.

This all makes sense, especially after seeing the Today show interview. I worked with you (Will) for 'The Jump' and meeting you was like meeting every role you'd ever played, in one person, something I even mentioned to my father whose a big fan of the characters you play... makes sense because I was meeting "Will Smith" not YOU. Really great stuff I cannot wait to read the book.
