Will oil prices keep rising, and how will that affect inflation? | Counting the Cost

Oil prices are at their highest level in months and central banks are keeping a close eye on the markets.
For the first time since October, Brent crude, the international benchmark, topped $91 a barrel last week.
That threatens a rise in gasoline prices in the United States and elsewhere, reigniting fears over inflation.
The increase in prices has been driven in part by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Supply shocks after several output cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies are also pushing prices up.
Zimbabwe has launched a new currency.
Plus, McDonald's buys back its Israeli restaurants.

EV demand is decreasing, NOT increasing. And summer driving season is just around the corner. So, I predict oil price is headed higher. But I am no expert so take that with a grain of salt.

I am very surprised that Saudi Arabia and UAE are not dumping US treasury bonds and buying gold.

No worries. The ZIG will be for the upper class only. For high priced foreign goods and travel abroad. Zimbabwe does not have enough gold to make it mainstream. They’ll keep selling much of the gold that they produce.

Gold standard worked in the past because it forced countries to ballance international trade or trade gold to ballance trade differences. I don't see how it works on a single country level

oil price will keep rising to push people to buy ev. they will the game of pricing going up and down a little and go up double, etc. once many people bought an ev, they will skyrocket the electric prices! this is the ulterior motive why ev is really being promo!

@@DueceSpice agreed! there are other issues too, which i am not in a hurry to buy an ev, even i can, especially with the li-on battery issue! also not all ev cars make the charger the same way, so this is going to become a nightmare as well. ev is not really saving the earth anyway too! ev has their own pollution issue!

Thing is, people can make their own electric. I buy electric because it's cheaper than making my own. That changes, up go the solar panels.

Gold backed zig might be highly beneficial in a very short term, but could have a exit point. To be blunt, gold is going to keep going up massively. or a while you will be able to ride the wave, but very soon as the super powers like china continue to hoard it for their plans, it is going to become too precious. you will not be able to afford enough gold to sustain an economy compared to such a giant. It would be wise to plan a hoarding of as much gold as you can NOW with the pre plan of eventually selling it/ trading it when its really valuable and making a Zig 2 which is silver backed, or smarter yet, copper backed. Copper is very cheap by comparison to gold and you can switch up to a huge quantity of it, and copper will absolutely keep going up in value as we continue to need more and more precious uses for it. It is simple logic, once upon a time there were not many humans and gold was great! but there is not enough for us all to be gold backed, we need too much of it for technology. so think ahead and fast. ;)
