Will It Start? “Reviving an abandoned Diesel Engine

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode, we take on the challenge of reviving a 40-year-old Perkins Diesel engine that has been sitting in the elements for decades. Join us as we attempt to get the engine to rotate, free up tight engine valves, remove fuel injectors for lubrication, and revive the starter motor. The results of our efforts are truly surprising! Watch as we breathe new life into this old diesel engine and see if it will start once again. #mechanical #tractor #diesel #olddiesel #dieselengine #farmequipment #restoration #perkins #perkinsengine #willitrun #willitstart #abandoned

That must be a bloody old Perkins to have a simms pump on it. I've had a diaphragm go on one of those pumps and the rack opens that far the stop wont work. Scary shit, I had to stall it. The historical information on unique Australian trucks and machinery is what draws us to the channel. Sadly these days there is not enough discussion and as a collective day by day we loose a little bit of this history every day. Alreet Marra, I hope Santa was good to youse. 😄 How's your eyes after the oil blast?. It's mint saving local tractors and hearing the stories that come with them. The bent steering wheel brought back a memory of me in my teens working on a farm where I nearly done the same!. Being the FNG I got a buggered old David Brown either 995 or 6 with one brake and 6 inches of steering play, pulling a 4 wheeled turntable trailer that was a twat to reverse initially. Early one morning collecting the silage bales, 8 bottom and 8 top and as I got to the steep downhill with an immediate steep uphill I put it into 1st to crawl down and cos of a English summer I noticed the load pushing me into a jackknife. I steered into it and stood on the brake pulling on the steering wheel enough for it to flex and just my luck the one brake was helping the jackknife.🤬 I thought fuck that and banged it in 4th and stretched the throttle rod luckily pulling it straight enough to put into neutral and setting a speed record in the DB. I wasn't scared of falling of the tractor cos although my arse couldn't take a bit out of the steel seat, it had a fucking good suction grip on it!. Hahaha. Once I came to a stop on the uphill I crawled the rest in 1st, shaking like a constipated chihuahua taking a shit!. On the second run back it was straight into neutral going downhill and jacknife be buggered. Hopefully this post gave you and others a laugh and got the week off to a good start.👍🏻

What is the reason for using compressed air? Is it to pressurise the fuel system? How is this done? Thanks

Because it sat so long the primer pump doesn’t work so just pressurise the drum to push it up into the injector pump

67 F500 out bush it would instant detach entire wheel & rod from the guts if pulled on it . . tried to fix a few times . . but not Fords better steering wheel designs , with a heavy C iron attached out front of the 67 (re power packed with a Perkins 6 & Fuller crash box out of an ACCO by me) . . ran over a massive pig out at Adelaide River NT . . like hitting Ayers rock , bounced over & pig ran away I suppose as did't see it in side mirror

Some people do a will it start, when there is never any doubt, unless they can't find the key. Your approach is a little different as everything you select has at least 3 vital components so utterly fucked that they are hard to identify. Utter diesel whisperer magic.
