    Love those three cylinder engines. They sound so good. That engine makes an insane amount of torque at a ridiculously low RPM. You gotta love it.

    Had one like that in our cattle feedlot to clean the pens. It had been a push Cat in a quarry and was set up with a cable lift blade off a D-8. The blade was too big and you couldn’t cut a smooth grade with it because when you lifted the blade the backend of the Cat would lift and then at a point rock back and dump a pile of dirt under the blade. But with a couple of disk blades welded on the corners of the blade for skids you could push manure all day long. If you didn’t have the timing on the pony motor just right it could kick back and the crank would break your arm..

    Looks really clean from the inside and im sure the issue has to be timing in the pony motor. I had the impression most of the CAT pony engine carbs where all single float only, this one has double floats? It dose sound awesome and I bet it sitting in a shed has some advantages over it being exposed to the elements of mother nature. I'm sure the spear engine will provide all the things you need and the rest you can always sell to someone else.

  • @MatthewBerginGarage
    @MatthewBerginGarage6 ай бұрын

    Get those mag rotors re-magnetized, being this old it is probably the issue. On those cast carbs I like to give them an additional bath in evaporust after the carb cleaner, Seems to make them work much better. They also look way better as well.

    My recollections of mag timing is; install at timing mark, anti-rotate engine one half to one full turn (depending on number of cylinders) to allow catch dogs to engage then rotate as normal to start. The catch dogs hold while winding up a sring which when released snaps the magneto to produce a hot spark. But I'm old and quite forgetful!

    Diesel engines have a long history yet for being used in anything started in the twenties..... that said, their getting started up and running can be a challenge. In those days, everything was made for its intended use and so if you went for a belt for your own waistline, They measured you and then cut the leather to fit you. I could go into a long spiel of who, what and where but your already aware of most of this knowledge. I am amazed on how a diesel engine pump is designed and how they work, and all the engineering that went into making those first engines. Now days, a place called Area Diesel service does repair or fix any issue encountered on making them work again. To say how much more that area diesel service provides for anyone is just off of the charts and so if you need the proper mag for this engine, they find someone who does it or do this stuff themselves. " A honest one stop shop" and you can't find better people to take your problems to. Their youtube channel of that same name is enough to convince anyone of their talents. Another place where such issues can be repaired or find pieces and parts is C and C equipment with same name youtube channel. Clint is overworked and yet seems to find time for anyone serious about this kind of machinery is the wealth of King Solomon. No matter where located, these folks mentioned will go out of their way to help folks. That last one mentioned is a great channel for entertainment

    This is huge. Discovered a quantum stove here man. Charles Darwin or Eienstien of wood stove. Normally wood stove loses 80-90% heat. It is completely possible to upgrade every wood stove 10x or 100x even 1000x. Trick is to harvest most heat out of the hottest part of the stove, put heat exchangers on basically inside the hottest part of the stove red hot, have a car radiator inside the wood stove or 10 car radiators getting completely red hot, with the ability to have fans blowing through them. Like that one time in star trek when red necked up warp drive system was hill bill figured it out. Use best heat exangers as possible out the exhaust system, should be able to harvest 99%-100 of the heat, a lot better than normal wood stove losing 80-90% heat normal heat stove.
