I had a 124 when I was 16 1985...taught me everything I know about auto repair
I also just got a 1980 Fiat 124 Spider. Currently working on it with my pawpaw. Needs a lot of TLC but I’m so excited to get it fixed up
Watching your videos makes me excited for when I get my own Fiat spider!

They are out there! They are so fun to drive
The connection of the big hose from the air flow meter looks a bit sketchy - probably worth getting a new one. The rubber gets hard and brittle over time, causing air leaks which result in poor air/gas mixture and rough running. The port in the cooling hose loop (the one with the hardware store steel pipe elbow near the distributor cap) is handy to "burp" the cooling system when needed (after draining cooling system, etc) and to add a bit of coolant as needed. Hot wiring for radiator fan ? Good video, Thanks
Put the car in 2nd, and gently bump the car back and forth to turn the engine.
Glad that ran, another 124 project on the way! love it (that wiring is a nightmare... )
Damn! Looks my 79…Good to see some spiders running
Thanks for the informative and engaging content,we just emailed you for an LED lighting review,hopefully hear from you soon
I wondered if I could ask please do you know if this example wears paint colour 449 Dark Blue, or 456? It looks very nice a, great car! 🔹💙🔹

I don’t know actually. I wish I did!

@@GarageTimeTV No that's okay, thanks for your reply! Well, I appreciate that the tag could be missing or damaged but there should be a data tag on the vertical section of the bulkhead/firewall immediately behind the distributor area. If this is intact and legible one should be able to see "Made in Italy" and something like the VIN/chassis and engine number, then below a paint code should be engraved reading something like 04'38 (Lord Blue), 04'49, or 04'56. The latter two are Dark Blue; it would just be a matter of whether or not the car is wearing the original paint or if it's been repainted (e.g. a different shade of dark blue). It's a beautiful car and I wish you the very best of luck with this excellent project! 🔹💙🔹
How did you diagnose the fuel pump running all the time?
@GarageTimeTV
Ай бұрын
When the key is “on” you can hear the pump. That should not be the case.

@@GarageTimeTV so how do you diagnose
@GarageTimeTV
Ай бұрын
@@user-ct4zz8di3r well you would hear it humming with the key on. The pump should only come on when the AFM (air flow meter) flap moves. You can test this by moving the flap manually to hear if the pump is running
With the Texas Two-Step, it should have been running in 2019 for the safety inspection unless the owner "knew a guy." Anywho, I won't have to watch Vice Grip Garage tonight.

You know everyone “knows” a guy! I appreciate your kind words!
Did I hear that right? You are going to swap out the manual with an auto? Please for the love of God don't do that.

Did you hear the reason why?
@thomassuit7450
11 ай бұрын
@GarageTimeTV I heard the reason. I also had a 1981 124 Spider and the clutch was not at all heavy. You are young and even you think it's heavy, so something is definitely wrong with it. Try fixing the clutch first. It might be you just need a new clutch cable.

@@thomassuit7450 I have the same problem, what is the clutch cable?
@thomassuit7450
3 ай бұрын
@@luisirex6263 Look at the hand brakes on a bicycle. There is a sleeved cable that provides a flexible mechanical linkage between the brake handle, and the brake caliper. The clutch cable is the same thing but from the clutch pedal to the actual clutch.
