Hello Cecil and Heather, nice vid and job too, I never had to play with points adjustements, cleaning only, but my father was a Boa-Ski dealer and he was able to do that and on outboard motors too, unfortunatly he was doing that so fast and very often alone so??? In looking at your vid now I've a better idea now, hoping my olds sleds motors will be ok when I be able to start them. Thanks again Cecil and a nice day for Heather and you.

Cecil, just a word of wisdom! Old men my self included should not be on their knees so much build a stand to put that sled on so you can stand up next to it and work on it would be easier than kneeling all of the time and Lord knows you have enough sleds there to work on...

You need a assembly line, drive them in on one end and out on the other end of the building... it shall henceforth be known as The Sled Shed!lol

Lol, yes on my old shed that was the way I had the doors set up, I had two four foot doors in the front, just in case someone had one on a trailer and I had a four foot door on the back to drive them out when I was finished... It worked quite well. Hmm The Sled Shed... I lie that :-) Thanks again. You take care ttyl.... Cheers :-)

One day that bird/squirrel will be perched on your chest saying "Now that I'm out of the tree, what do you have to say now tough guy? How hard would it be to time the points with the engine installed? Heaps of late 80s early 90s Arctic Cat Cougars for sale $200 or less. Might start buyong them up, cannibalize some for parts and get a few running. Curse you for making me want to get off the couch and do repairs like this, LOL. Wonder what to pay for old snowmobiles that don't run, been sitting for years. Some I've found are seized due to moisture, those engines might be junk.

Lol, that squirrel better get over it's tough guy attitude... Or I'll stop leaving food out for it ;-) lol. Yes if I were you Jeffrey I would start buying up as many older sleds as you can....Anything before 1980, I think they will be like old muscle cars or motorcycles. I am starting to see a lot of folks starting clubs for these vintage snowmobiles... Collectors always drives the prices up, and when their none left to buy :-( good luck being able to afford them then ;-) Thanks again. You take care ttyl... Cheers :-)

Off Grid Homesteader Cecil E Skinner Would love it if you can do a video on getting a moisture seized engine unstuck and running. The biggest problem with old old snowmobiles is that tge seats are trashed, some even turned into moss. Would have to find someone local to make new seats with foam and covers.

Off Grid Homesteader Cecil E Skinner Any advice what price to pay for non-running snowmobiles? If it sparks and has compression, should be easy to get running.

  • @SkinnersOffGrid

My opinion Jeffrey if an engine is seized, do what I did with this engine... Pull it all apart and go through it from top to bottom.... Seats are very easy to make Jeffrey, just a plywood bottom, foam you can cut to shape yourself, a thin covering of plastic and then your top covering cut and sewed to fit snug, then staple it to the plywood.... Boom, you have a new seat ;-) Thanks again. You take care ttyl.... Cheers :-)
