Our road trip to help our viewers get their old cars and trucks running continues. This time we visit a small town in Georgia to try and get a 1963 Mercury Marauder running. Come along on this rescue with Christina and I as we do our best with this classic Merc! Will it start? Will it drive? If you have an old vehicle you would like us to get running, emails us at rdb6x@yahoo.com

I have a '63 Monterey, this guy has a lot to look forward to if he gets it driving. I revived a Monterey 4 door, 390 with the Merc o matic. Same color as this one, but the Breezeway roofline, it had been sitting 10 years, but it was an incredible survivor with a near perfect interior and exterior not far off either. Got it running, got it driving, At this point i've redone all the major driving systems, plus I even got the factory AC going again. And it drives so damn smooth, goes over bumps like glass. I've put 2,000 miles on it now with no major issues. A real pleasure to drive, he's got a lot to look forward to.

What an excellent candidate for restoration, given the condition of the body, and a 2 door hardtop no less! The FE series Ford engines are very common still, and hard to kill by mere neglect. Almost as dependable as an anvil. I've had several of the 390s and even a 428 version, and they can be mild to wild, depending on what you want. Starters by the way, are made to kick out when the flywheel suddenly picks up, so as not to burn up the starter. It just spins up like that if you are a bit slow in taking your hand off the switch. Sounds great to me!

That is definitely a keeper and it should be parked in an enclosed garage with concrete floor instead of a outside shed style building. I can see red paint peeking out from under that white and I'll bet that vehicle was originally red. This is a car that is well worth a thorough restoration. I am not a Ford guy but this Mercury is a well designed vehicle and it is so complete.

A little time spent sitting at the front and back bumpers and some triple aught steel wool and the owner would definitely notice the difference in the look of the bumpers. If it were mine I'd fix any rust throughs and the surface rust on the body of the car, and then have it repainted the original color of Corinthian White, add finding the original hubcaps and a new set of white wall tires and you'd have a Beautiful almost original Mercury Marauder. Nuff Said. Yall did a wonderful job getting that 390 unstuck and running and actually idling. I now have another decent channel to watch. I appreciate the lack of cursing that some other channels have on them.

Well that was pretty decent tractor shed. And you had a critter to keep your company. What else could you ask for? All seriousness that is a nice car with great patina. My wife and I like that word as much as you like two red battery cables. I think it's a good thing the way the two of you switch back and forth speaking on the videos. We once did a frame off assembly of a Chevy Seton pickup in a storage unit! Now that was tight. Well you two have found your groove with this episode. Glad your boy left it set in the tractor shed or else it may not have been here at all. Look forward to your future episodes.

I am hoping after all the work that was put into getting this classic running that the owner will finish repairing it and put it back on the road and not just shove it back under that shed to rot away like many people do.

390 was the base engine. I think a 403 was optional for 63. Not sure about the 427 but it could have been an option as this was a performance car for Mercury.
