Will it Run?? | 1967 Chevrolet Caprice SUNK IN THE DIRT, Sitting for 30+ Years! "Supernatural" Car!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This 1967 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door hardtop has been sitting in the same place for over 30 years. The owner's father purchased it as a parts car for the engine and transmission. These cars are popular due to their status in the hit show "supernatural". Even though that car is an impala, these cars are identical other than some trim and moldings. Can we get this Chevy running again after sinking into the dirt for over 3 decades?
Thanks for watching!

I am glad he never pulled the engine out of that car. The 1967's are such a cool design and this is a Caprice.
When it fired, the first time, it sounded perfect!!!!!!! this is a nice engine!!!!!!!

Yeah it has great compression
Love this car. My grandfather had a 2dr plum purple Caprice with a 327. He bought it brand new and it was thought that I might inherit it when he passed in 1980, and I had just gotten my license in 1977 and I was supposedly his favorite. Unfortunately he didn't leave it to anyone in his will, and his son/my Uncle decided it would be his. My grandfather took meticulous care of that low mile car. As he was a police officer, but before that he was a mechanic (as was I) Well my Uncle did not share my grandfather's same love for cars, and within 2 years he had smashed it up and drove it into the ground, and off to the junkyard it went. So sad

Great job getting the ol girl running again! Always love seeing a car come back to life! ✌🏻 Oh and I’d keep it mostly original and just get it back to safe driving condition. But keep the rough rugged look.

Glad to see you got it running and moving after sitting all those years! Last year for 283 2bbl 195 hp, would make a good project car for someone. Could get it mechanically sound with brakes working and fuel system working again. Trim looks good, could give a quick paint job or just drive with patina! Make a good 2022 carshow cruiser with all the windows down! Glad you saved it from its resting spot and someone can get some use out of it! Take care Ryan.

Looking great in shorts Ryan. Love the 283 with a power glide trans. Another great rescue and thank you for sharing 👍🏻

One of your best videos yet, although I’ll be aboard any with a ‘67 full size Chevrolet. I had a navy blue 4-door, black interior (same body shell as your video car). Mine was a 283 w/Powerglide, p/s, no p/b, an aftermarket a/c, and the little dog dish hubcaps that were 1967 model year only. Ran to 135k. No idea where it went. Thanks again for your videos, Ryan.

Right before covid hit, my dad and I got his 66 2 door caprice running after sitting since 89. His grandfather bought it with very little miles on it. My dad bought it from him as his first car. He ran the 283 till it was too tired and at the time my grandfather had just bought a pickup that he crashed shortly after. They took the 307 from it and put it in the caprice. We got the 307 running, but we pulled it and put a 350 in. Such cool cars.

Nobody stocks points for a small block Chev??? Wow! Seems like points and condenser are so "last year" now, aren't they? At least with points, when they go bad, you just sand them and you're away and laughing. With an electronic ignition module, if it clags, you're calling a tow truck.....unless you carry an old points-based distributor in the car with you! Love the 67 hardtop. Always look grouse when you're cruising with the windows down. Sounds like that engine is a good one with a few thousand miles left in her, so if the old girl were in my possession, I'd do: - the brakes (disc conversion up front if not already) - the rust (which would have to be done completely for the inspection laws in my country, but it would be primered and then sprayed to match the wear / condition of the original for now) - the suspension (leaving it bog-stock standard....or maybe a 2" drop to give her a similar stance as she now has and slightly lower in the front. She certainly would not be slammed!) - all rubber components (bushes, mounts, tyres etc etc. Tyres would be mounted on the standard rims with hubcaps, although I have also seen an original Chevelle / Impala / Nova wheel trim that simulates a period alloy wheel, so if I could find a set, I might use those instead) - exhaust (has to be the right balance of crackle up in the revs and rumble at idle without being loud), Then I'd make sure she's watertight (replacing seals as necessary) and give her a good clean inside and out. Other bodywork would be sanded, repaired, prepped and primed over time until she sort-of resembled a patch-work quilt, but any repairs would also be touched up with the body colour so they matched in and the car itself would still look good from 10 feet away. Once she'd been on the road a while and I've got a few miles back from the investment, I'd do: - the interior - bench seats, door cards, hood lining (if needed), dash top (if needed) and carpet, - the full sound-deadening treatment to ensure the cruising comfort is maximised. - a decent sound system - no sub woofers, just a pair of 6x9 JBL 3-way in the rear and 6x9 JBL 2-way up front, but they would be hidden discreetly and the sound system mounted in the glovebox. After a few years, I would get around to stripping her back and painting the body the original colour again all over and properly. This would probably be timed to coincide with getting the engine rebuilt so that I could do the engine bay as well. She might get a set of 15x7 Rallye or Magnum 500 wheels.....maybe with a thin-white-banded tyre (a thin band rather than a full-on whitewall) or just straight black, I'd have to see it next to the car to be certain. Everything except the engine rebuild I can do myself, so that would be my only large expense. I'd love to see it done. I remember when you had a couple of them in the same colour - one was beautiful with its interior near perfect and the top half of the body still shiny and looking wonderful, but with the bottom half of it rotten...and the other would have been the perfect donor. This one is tired, but it's certainly not beyond saving by a long haul! Thanks for letting us hear that great little powerhouse roar back into life. All the best

You could sell it to me. My 88 year old dad's biggest automotive-related regret in life was selling his prized 1967 Chevy Caprice 4 door hardtop to buy a new 1977 Chevy Chevette in the midst of the '70s fuel crisis. I've been looking for one for years to buy and restore for him with no luck.
this is an iconic car!!! like currently im making a Ghostbusters ECTO1 hearse replica, but as SOON as im done i want to find one of these babies! i saw when this car got listed, really fair price for how good and complete of a car it is. hopefully they dont go up in value too much before i can pick one up. great job saving that beauty!

Good job men can’t beat those old blocks. I be very surprised if someone left a electric car sit for 30 some years and start right back.
Crazy that no one local had points for it. I just got points for my 71 Nova. Nice to see it run hope it gets fixed up
Nice catch once again Ryan! Sweet to see another one saved from the weeds and running. The engine looks so tiny in there! Oh the simplicity of classic cars! I think the dial indicates a Powerglide 2-speed automatic, I tried to catch what it said. If it had the 327 it may have come with the Turbo-400. A nice touch on 1967 and 1968 Caprice were the lamps on the ends of the front fenders, white on 67 and clear on 68. They were optional on the other full sized models. Hope this one goes to a good home! Thanks for sharing.

Supernatural just might describe this car very well! A carb that is still kinda working tells you our fuel today is garbage.. I like the natural look but with what has happened to this one, the interior is a must and fixing dents really should be done... that said, a enamel paint job from tractor supply would give it a color and save a car no one wanted till that tv series came out

Yeah it's not saying about them over Chevy V8 like that Point Gap sets at 19 and if you got 12 M they said it's 30° as what they like about the Chevys is with that little window you can lift it up a little Alan adjustment till they got flexed screwdriver down and deal on into best for that or you can use an allen wrench to just as well while the engine is running if you have a 12 M otherwise they usually fire out pretty good.
