So glad I returned the plastic Plano ammo cans, what convinced me was some fire protection from metal cans.

Agreed. I basically use my plastic cans for light duty use only, no live ammo storage at all. They are great for use as a holder of spent casings.

The plastic cans are nice for brass or to take to the range. For actual storage the metal cans all day.

@@SMR-TacticalWould harbor freight or MTM cans offer similar performance to the cans featured in the vid?

Pretty sure the label says "WATER-RESISTANT". I've never read anything from MTM that stated their ammo cans were "WATER-PROOF". Seems like an unfair comparison to make a video about.

That’s fair. But I wonder if most people know the difference between waterproof and water resistant. Heck I had to go look it up for clarity myself. Further, MTM even giving this thing a “water resistant” rating is laughable….it takes on water instantly as the depth of the water crosses the height of the seal. Since you mention it….the phrase “water resistant” is usually marketed with HOW resistant the item is. A watch will say “water resistant to 10 meters” or something similar…this MTM Case Gard is water resistant to water droplets coming directly from above and that is about it. There is no actual water “resistance” that this thing has. It is as water resistant as holding a newspaper over your head during a flood . And considering that we use this for incredibly expensive ammunition, which we need to keep BONE DRY…it does make a huge difference which can keeps water out and which can lets water flow freely.
