For future reference: A lot of people would want to make sure that forcing the engine to turn will not do additional damage. But since you're pulling it to turn the engine you should do it in the highest transmission gear which should be like putting it in the lowest gear because power is going from the wheels to the engine instead of vice versa.

My brother and I did the same on our 20 acres , we had big garden's with Mom , and Dad helped us bring home an Allis Chalmer's we paid for ourselves, and we had a good strong tractor. Sewed oats with a 1916 wood wheeled Van Brunt Grain drill , and the Allis Chalmers tractor. Loved that orange tractor so much ♥💪🏻🇺🇸👍🏻

Continental engines were used in a lot of machines. Shouldn’t be too hard to find parts.

Something you could use is a bore scope. Feed it into each cylinder will show you what you're up against. Being hydro locked can bend rods popping the clutch. Get yourself a wood or plastic mallet to tap the valves is also a good move. Being a smart kid you'll learn a lot along with picking up ideas. Good video.

Great to see a kid not be afraid to get dirty and have interest in learning something useful , and not be afraid to put his phone down. Having said that, I hope you got paid to take that thing off the guy's hands and not the other way around!

You can pour Mystery Oil down the plug holes. I don't know what's in it, it's a mystery.

It was most certainly running when parked. The broken main cap from lack of oil, sucking through the oil pump, which seized the engine is why it was parked 😢

That block is toast! It must have been full of water at one point to cause all that damage. I would definitely have the head magnafluxed to check for cracks also. It may be OK. I hope you can find a replacement block. I just bought a John Deere H that has a stuck engine. I haven’t tried to free it up yet; hope it isn’t as bad as your Oliver.

I bought an H a few months before this Oliver. It was stuck too, I hoped it’s was not bad but ended up pressing pistons out with 20 ton bottle jack. Video about it will be out hopefully before Christmas

Yikes! That engine is pretty rough! I wouldn't be surprised if it has water sitting in it for quite some time! Problem is that even if you can clean up the crank it will likely be out of round which is not good. If you have a set of Mics you can check that though and also check to see whether or not it's within spec or not too. Out of curiosity, since you were going over the GW, do you also live on Long Island? Also just subbed btw. I'm a fellow young engine enthusiast and like seeing other people around my age getting into it! :)

I wouldn't be trying to pull off a stuck engine. You could end up bending the push rods which is usually the weakest point with stuck valves. Cheers from eastern TN

They fill up the garage! I take the Oliver 70 row crop and JD H to tractor pulls. The JD B and 8N have been in parades. The Farmall M was my entry in the Chevron Tractor Restoration Competition. I hope to see how it pulls this summer. It is fun to drive them up the street occasionally. I would love to get a farm to put them to use!

Pretty poor shape. Before considering a replacement block I'd check out the trans/running gear. It may be just scrap iron and maybe a part or two. It likely would not have worked but when trying to pull the tractor to turn over an engine, always use high gear. In this case you should have put it in 6th gear when trying to break the engine free.
