Technically, you should take no damage, since smaller things take less damage when falling from the same height as big things. An ant could survive a five story drop, an elephant would crumple on itself.

I just wanna point out how the scale only looks wierd because at that size, there's very little to compare yourself to. Or, in simpler terms, the textures don't have anything for you to measure yourself, the distance you're traveling, or how far away you are from stuff. The closest reference point you have, a single pixel, is literally several magnitudes larger than you.

It's all cubes, you've failed as a gamedev if you messed up a cube hitbox.

For fall damage to be consistent with your character's size, it would have to become more dense in order to keep its mass for all sizes. However, given the original size in proportion to the smallest size seen in the video, this would likely cause the character to basically be too heavy to move themselves, because they would need the same amount of force to move a denser object. MEANING, the fall damage wouldn't be possible if this were real life, considering that the amount of kinetic energy transferred into the character at the time of impact would depend on the character's mass. (because, you know. more mass = more capacity for kinetic energy). p.s. don't call me stupid I'm typing this at like 12AM so im tired and not thinking straight

Yes except that it's not the character shrinking but the world growing as the fall takes way longer. If the character were to shrink, the fall would take as long still since the distance and gravity are the same.

No, I would bet that it’s gonna be your velocity on the y axis when you hit the ground that determines falls damage. However that might only be with elytra, I am not sure

Due to the square cube law you become more resistant to fall damage the smaller you are, so even if you did shrink that much it wouldn’t kill you. Well, the fall/impact wouldn’t kill you. Your shrunken cells would malfunction and kill you before you could jump.

The funny thing is, a Silverfish, or an Endermite, two of the smallest things in Minecraft, take fall damage despite their small size, which should account for the total mass of them, unlike the Iron Golem, which is big, and made out of iron, which, as a metal, is generally heavy, which takes no fall damage. Minecraft logic makes no sense.

@@colossalnate156 Still, the point stands. Since it's made of iron, a heavy material, which accounts for the gain of gravitational acceleration, it should break apart if it fell from a great height.

Fun fact: Falling from heights has less effect the smaller the thing falling, as the Kinetic Energy transmitted to the body during the impact becomes insignificant when the mass of the object is too low.

I think that's not the cause. My thought is that small things has stronger structures due to proximity to the molecular level. So, even maintaining the proportions, little things are stronger because they have "less" places to break.

this scale mod (pekhui) doesnt scale you down, but scales the world up. so you "think" you fell 0.0625 of a block, but you actually fell closer to rougly 50 blocks (~3 second fall, cant know exactly due to not knowing the scale he was set to)

Sometimes it's mods, which I suspect they're using in this video, other times it's just trying out stuff in the game we haven't seen before using command blocks. Not to sugarcoat it but it's not as difficult as you probably think. Just get an interesting idea, record you doing it in the game, that's half of the job done.

Maybe this specific mod is Pehkui. It’s a mod for fabric (idk for forge) that lets you change your size and different separate numbers of that through commands, for example you can use the command “/scale set 2” to make yourself two times bigger as well as increasing your reach distance, projectiles and dropped items size. Damn, another lengthy explanation I did there...

Smaller things take less damage from falling. This is because the square cube law states that dimension, area, and volume scale differently when increasing in size. For example, if I were to scale a cube up so that it's length was twice as long, then the surface area would actually increase by a factor of four and the volume would increase by a factor of 8. This means bigger things have more volume in relation to surface area than smaller things. Because kinetic energy is largely dependent on volume and the dispersement of kinetic energy is largely dependent on the surface area, then bigger things will have more energy being focused on a smaller area. This allows an ant to drop from any height and walk away like nothing happened whereas an elephant would splash and a big bloody, pulpy puddle when dropped from ten stories.

Fun Fact :The smaller your mass, the less the force of gravity pulls you down, but the smaller your surface area is, the less the air resistance slows you down.If you become 10 times smaller, then you will weigh 1000 times less, but your surface area will only be 100 times less. Thus, the relative force of air resistance as compared to the force of gravity will be 10 times more. so we shouldn't die falling if we are that small.
