From the flat lands of Norfolk if I can’t be in the Highlands I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Burns Night than to enjoy Scotlands Mountains with you and Gerry and a whisky by my side. Thanks for another great video and I’ll raise the glass to you, Murray, your family. Gerry and all your other hill walking/climbing friends. Cheers! 🥃🏴🥾❤️

That was brilliant Murray. I did that ridge as a teenager in summer - a much less serious proposition. However I took my springer spaniel on her first serious mountain. I was not prepared for her to take one look at the steepness and decided that the only way up was to run up it. Needless to say she got only so far before realising she wouldn't make it so she pushed off and flew back throught he air landing at my feet. I really can't remember how I got her over it all after that, but it was safely. Unlike my later collie who was light enough to carry in my pack, she was far too solid and heavy.
Really enjoyed this. Going up on the rough ground looked awkward to say the least. Coming down it too. I've often walked around there and thought. am I going to conquer the Tooth?" Next time I'm up there. Looks fabulous.. Thanks for sharing.
Nice thounder Birds for ice. The colours of Winter time.... Long way to this amazing Towers. Looks very cold
Ohhh my word ! You don’t do things by half do you Murray 😮 this tested my nerves😅 awesome brave men you are. Thank you for sharing this, bless your hearts surrounded on a tooth by cloud nerves of steel, I also am not friends with the mess that foresters leave, petition time ! They also should clear their mess up. 😊 old owl 🦉 alaya uk.
Great new graphics at the start and Lord of the Rings music at the end. I agree with Gerry re the deforestation abomination, even our local Methven Woods is a scene of destruction.

That was great to watch and an interesting bit of Beinn a' Bhethir that I haven't seen before.
The moment Gerry turned up in the Land rover you could sense there was going to be an element of hard-core to the video. The snowy ridge and camera angles gave the video a real cliffhanger feel.

Yes Murray!. That's just perfect. Loved that. Not seen it before. I think that type of route is a perfect winter trip. Not too fussy/technical but a nice bit of gully ridge and winter. Just done one on Catstycam in the lakes but it was way too powdery for picking good lines. Thanks again. Lovely film. 👍

Everyone needs a friend like Gerry! Dynamic Duo, more of this Murray 😀
Some very serious climbing there but looks like you enjoyed it, well done. I'm lucky to have this as the view from my accommodation across the Bridge in Old Town but only got as far as the cleared trees above the forest. Great views on a clear day.
That's taking hiking to a different level entirely, great to watch but for me, I'll stick to the hills. Total respect though boys
Wow well done chaps -brilliant

Seeing a lot of snowy videos coming out of Scotland in the last couple of weeks... I've got a trip to Ballachulish booked for next week - Inspired by your Beinn a'Chrulaiste video, I wanted to come and get some snowy photos of Buachaille Etive Mòr and the surrounding area. I figured late January would be pretty much guaranteed snow... I'm driving up from the south coast of England on Sunday - Currently, the forecast is Strong winds and heavy rain! :( What a great climb! I'd love to try some of the easier stuff like this. I'm not too great with heights, but I like to test my limits. Even so, that first obstacle would probably get my knees knocking! Big production value on this video - The special effects, the music etc... Did you hire Michael Bay?! ;)

Hey Murray, greetings from Australia! Love your videos. Please can you tell me why those trees are being harvested? You said it was commercial forest - does that mean it has been grown specifically to be harvested? It seems like such a wild and rugged place to do something like that.
@ScotlandsMountains
Жыл бұрын
hi Anatta - thats correct - for timber production - pretty much nothing else can grow in these forests as they are so tightly packed ! not a great place for nature anyways Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray

In your expert opinion, if you had to pick one highland location for a town that had the most mountain trails accessible to you from the hotel, which would you choose? (I’ll be traveling without a car taking a bus from Edinburg to the highlands). Love the videos! It’s my favorite “tv” channel.
@ScotlandsMountains
Жыл бұрын
Depends on what type of trails you are looking for - Aviemore is pretty good with the Rothiemurcus forest and Cairngorms -
That looked SCAREY, think I will take the bus (or a quieter way)?
Outstanding Murray lad. Presume that was a fixed belay anchor you used ... can’t imagine you had to leave gear behind.

Hi Garry - yeas there was some in situ tat at the location 👍
Loving your video's. I'm assuming you use an RS twin? What mount were you using when climbing? it felt like it was attached to your rucksack thanks
@ScotlandsMountains
Жыл бұрын
thats right Stephen it is a RS twin with the 3D module. I just use a selfie stick with it and no helmet mounts Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Impressive video as always, but the most impressive thing was resisting the urge to stick your walking pole into that frozen puddle at the start, amazing! 😆
Daft question: after the abseil how did you get the rope down if it's secured at the top?🤔
@ScotlandsMountains
Жыл бұрын
Hi - not a daft question as I also used to think of that beofre I got into this stuff! The rope is fed through the anchor until its half way point so there are essentially two strands going down the cliff. Once at the bottom you pull one end through (hope that makes sense) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray

Hi Murray, Is Gerry an ex Royal Marine? He uses terms like Scran, Yomping and Hand Railing. Very much used by RM’s.
how do you get started with climbing hills like that ?
