Will FC Barcelona ACTUALLY Go Bankrupt?!

Спорт

Reports in Spanish newspaper El Mundo at the start of 2021 shed light on the extent of Barcelona's financial plight.
Josep Bartomeu may have resigned, but the legacy of his disastrous reign as president lives on, and the La Liga giants are reportedly in €1.4 billion of debt.
The amount of short-term debt the club is saddled with has led to talk of Barca going bankrupt, so in this video, HITC Sevens examines Barca's frightening accounts, how things got so bad, and whether there is any way out for Lionel Messi's side.

Absurd. I’m so tired of teams being run at a net loss but not receiving any penalties. Removal from CL and a complete ban on transfers inbound so they quit spending money.

This isn't like Juventus with cacipoli im not sure if we were sent down We'd jump back up. Most of the squad would leave. Probably the two most difficult things with La Liga to do are balance the books of Barca and try to field anything above a 6th place Athletic Club with the Basque development rules which either require spot talent super young and hope it sticks or poach all the Basques in an unrealistic fashion from Sociedad without an intermediary. As in Eibar might be a third place, but the other two seem to be trickier.

They occupy such an important level to keep the capitalist economy running, so when they fail, the system they are in may be severely damaged. As a result, those who benefit from this system (and hold most power) will actively help these institutions to prevent them from failing despite their incompetence. Great post breaking down Barca's finances, especially their staggering wage bill. As a Real Madrid fan, I'm used to the lavish spending accusations, but Madrid's spending is somewhat modest in comparison to other clubs. I think Barca's biggest mistake happened after the sale of Neymar. Dembele & Coutinho were rash, panic induced, very overpriced impulse buys. While Griezmann is a great player, his contract it staggering. We'll see how the Barca saga unfolds.

Unfortunately not, which is a real shame as lessons need to be learned by most clubs about the obscene salaries paid to lure players in, Barca being one of the worst for it, unsettling players at rival clubs with talk of interest and big money deals. They should not be able to talk to any player who has penned a contract until that contract has ended, this should be the same for every club. It would help stop players acting like spoiled kids in order to manufacture a move for big bucks, or force the club they are with into offering to pay them more money just to keep them. A contract is a worthless bit of paper these days as so many get out clauses, or the sheer fact the player just wants a move because he's been taken off, not played or maybe his shirt was creased??

Finally, someone who understands that selling Messi would have been a catastrophic decision for Barça. I'll go out on a limb here and say half of Barça's fan base support the club because of Messi. And it is because of Messi that Barça are somewhat able to compete for the La Liga and CL title. Sure, the overall debt may reduce with Messi's sale and what then? They'll still be left with massive debt and without the biggest generator of revenue for the club. With Messi gone, La Liga's TV rating will inevitably drop and that would mean less money in broadcasting revenue, less money in from merchandise and other brand deals. There's a reason Bartomeu pulled every scummy move in the book in order to keep Messi at the club. The guy maybe a corrupt bastard, but he's not an idiot.
