The skillset is entirely different, so it doesn't matter if you've been a coordinator for 1 year or 20/ It's not his playcalling that'll make him a good HC, it's his leadership. Tomlin was a 1 year coordinator, Reid if I'm not wrong was never really a coordinator. Went straight from position coach to HC. When you have it, you have it.

Nice bruh was under pete carroll for a hot minute. He's young and he used to be a football player in college. I love this hire. ❤

Dude has had 1 year of play calling and now he’s qualified for HC role. Craaazy move.

So far I agree with the hiring of HCs with the Chargers and Jim Harbaugh and the hiring with the Raiders and Antonio Pierce. I kind of get the hiring with New England and Jarod Mayo given how young he is but I felt like they should have gone out of house I don’t agree with the Titans hiring Brian Callahan given what little Brian did with the Bengals. I get the hiring with the Panthers and Dave Canales as someone had to take the hiring job of the Panthers so they couldn’t get a splashy name. But at least they got an offensive guy to help Bryce young

Sucks for Tampa

As a Panthers fan and our team rebuilding, I am going to be realistic here, I just want a winning season to start off with.If we progress further that would be fantastic.My concern here is with the owner,He needs to just chill out and relax and let the coaches do their jobs and just be the owner. I don't recall Jerry Richardson ever stressing his coaches and players out and if he did i never knew about it.Never the less we will see come August.

@@aceofdiamonds3342 Hey don't worry about it just stick with our team and don't jump ship.I got a good feeling about Dave Canales,I didn't have it with matt rhule or frank Reich .I think Tepper should have let Steve Wilks coach,But look at him now NFC Champion and a Super Bowl Appearance.As long as Tepper lets the coaches do their jobs everything will be good.

Canales is awesome. Hope this is a huge success

I hope he tanks. No one likes someone with no loyalty. We gave him a OC position with zero experience calling plays and this is how he rewards us? Jumping ship to a division rival!? Walk the plank Canales! I hope you go 0-17 and end up like you predecessors.

Panthers fan here. I made peace that we’d have to settle for an unknown with Tepper’s reputation. This isn’t a terrible hire at all. He has a track record with QBs with Russ, Geno, and Baker. I think at the minimum he will help Bryce gain some confidence. The main problem in Carolina is the cupboard is bare on offense. Getting as many even average players as they can via FA could make us a world of difference.

As a Bucs fan, the only reason I wanted to keep Todd Bowles as head coach next year is because of Dave Canales. Now that Dave is gone, I hope we fire Todd Bowles.

We turned down the jaguars job before Doug pederson took it he had a job on table but turned it down

Canales wasn't interested in keeping the team together to build something special in Tampa??? He just let a lot of people down, Baker better be looking for a deal elsewhere because Tampa just became a big question mark!!
