Will Dad's 1958 Plymouth Belvedere Start?
Фильм және анимация
On my vacation at my folks' place I managed to rope my dad into making a 'Will it Start' video with me on his 58 Plymouth. I had a ton of fun wrenching and putting this video together! Maybe next summer we can do another video on the car...

Someday I'm gonna trade all my junk for whatever 58 I can find. Finest 50's vehic' ever made
Beautifull!
awesome video!
My '58 Plymouth is also an LA built car. Originally from Phoenix AZ, got moved to upstate NY at some point. I imported it to the UK two years ago, it had been off the road for 20yrs. It required a complete rebuild so not as nice as your dads!! Unfortunately mines only got the single 2 barrel as opposed to the dual quads. Nice looking car, thanks for sharing...

Thanks so much! My dad always toys with the idea of going back to a single 4 or even the original 2bbl just because it ran much more reliably. If it were me I’d stay 2x4 just for the cool factor; I’m sure the kinks could be ironed out!
What a fantastic car! If I were close by I'd help get it going.
My father had a 58 Plymouth Belvidere station wagon, pink and white
Beautiful car!! The fact that your dad had it this long is amazing. I wanted my dad's '58 Plymouth plaza but he had to junk it in 68 due to terminal rust two years before I could legally drive!

WOW, I had a plaza as well. Your the first of many to say that name . I bought it from an old man in Kennewick WA for 250 dollars in 1978 It had a raised block in it with push button shift on the dash . It was red n white And it was a two door . I loved that car !

Thanks for the kind words and for watching! He’s been talking about a full rotisserie restoration for years but he wants to find someone with an intimate knowledge of these forward look cars.

@@jamessignorelli852 the closet I ever came to getting a 58 plaza was in 78 too. I saw a woman drive by me here in Tampa. I followed her to a nearby grocery store and I approached her and asked if she'd be willing to sell. She asked me what I'd be willing to give her and I offered $500.00 which at the time was well above blue book for a 20 year old base model Plymouth in only fair condition. She looked at me in disdain and said" I wouldn't sell it for ten thousand dollars and walked off. I guess she figured she had a gold mine and I insulted her with my offer!! I have a nice 60 Lincoln I'm second owner of for 43 years now and have always said I'd trade it for a nice 58 plaza, in black, with a flathead 6 and 3 on the tree like my dad once had!
2:24 EXCELLENT choice in music ;) It might be a bit better if you put some gas in one of those ketchup or salad dressing kinda bottles when you're pouring right into the carb bowl like that, makes it a bit easier to control. I see a few other comments from armchair mechanics, just keep doing what you're doing and enjoying yourself on the way, its how I am with my 1958 Edsel.

That was my plan. I wasn’t expecting pop to start dumping gas like that! I definitely had armchair mechanics on my mind months before we started filming and even debated turning comments off but I figured maybe a few people could offer useful info instead tell us how stupid we are and that we’re doing everything wrong! Thanks for the kind words!
Dad bought his ‘58 Belvedere convertible brand new. First car I was ever in. I have some vivid memories of burning my legs on the seats after it was parked in the sun with the top down and squirming around until I cooled off and a when dad stopped for a traffic light and a blue jay perched on the dash mounted rear view mirror. Dad sold it in ‘65 and bought a brand new Olds Toronado. That man had great taste in automobiles!

My dad had a funny story about his family’s 57 Plymouth where he parked on a hill and knocked the parking brake off with his knee getting out and it rolled down the hill until the curb/guardrail stopped it from going into the gulch!
Love this 1:10
The first thing I would have done is to rebuild the carbs.
dang nice.
paint it red and you have a winner
noice!
Is it for sale and available
What a beautiful car. What kind of bike is that in the background

He’s got a few bikes in there- Triumph Daytona, Triumph Bonneville, Harley (not sure what model), and a Cushman Eagle.
I don't do ether i do a mix of a very little 2 cycle oil a couple drips and gas
Needs electric fuel pump and the carbs rebuilt. Will start every time.

No such thing
THOSE ARE NOT AFB'S THEY ARE WCFB'S
You mentioned something about repainting. If that is THEE original paint on it, pull-lease don't paint it! Keep that patina. But if it's been painted already, no big ado if you do a paint redux.

From the shot down the rear quarter that doesn't look like the original paint

It’s not the original paint. I think the previous owner had it sprayed in the early 80’s. There are a few spots with orange peel and overspray.
Some people shouldn't mess with cars . Especially when you don't know what your doing .

I'm leaving now it's too late to stop you from making more mistakes
If u knew what your doing , that car would have been running long time ago , it's clear u don't know diddly..... float valve is near where fuel line goes in , any body that knows how to knows that ....... stay away from cars until u find propper procedures..... hard to watch

Nobody asked you or cares what you think. Go back to being irrelevant, thanks. Your comment was hard to finish. Looks like a Trump tweet.
