Cardinal Pizzabella as patriarch of Jerusalem is in a very sensitive position sharing the Church of the Holy Sepulcher with Orthodox, Coptics and Ethiopians whose liturgies are ancient and traditional. Could you imagine the scandal if the patriarch introduced bongo drums, dancing nuns, girl altar boys and laypeople giving out Holy Communion? His Masses at the Holy Sepulcher are mostly in Latin and very traditional. Holy Communion is administered by priests and deacons by intinction and no one receives in the hand. He certainly understands liturgical tradition and would be a good choice.

@@timothymacdonnell9079 Well, not necessarily. Among the Cardinals in Rome and beyond there seems to be a concern for the future of the Church. Bergoglio has been a disaster. The Cardinals will be looking for someone who can unite the Church and restore peace. Cardinal Pizzabella is not a traditionalist in the common meaning of the word, but he is someone, unlike Bergoglio, who understands and values the traditional liturgical expressions of the Catholic faith and is not on a campaign to destroy them. The church today needs a pope to unite people and not divide them as.Bergoglio has done.

I am a convert... and I converted in large part because of the sacred classical music, which spans nearly a thousand years of church history, and was written specifically for the Glory of God. From Gregorian chant, too early choral polyphony, to the great symphonic masses of Bach, Schubert, and Beethoven, this music resonates much more deeply with my soul than the contemporary guitar masses of today. And, in fact, that was one of the main reasons as a protestant evangelical that I didn't go to church for many years - because I found the "rock concert and a sermon" style of worship to be very empty. Yet sadly, many Catholic masses are devolving into something quite similar. Yes, of course the Lord is still present in any mass, and the people are sincere, regardless of the music - because Christ meets each one of us wherever we are in our journey of faith. But the richness and depth of what the mass can be and should be simply is not there. Why would we want to lose that? Simply put, the richness and depth of sacred classical music through the ages simply cannot be matched by modern music, on any level. Up until Vatican II, that was what was heard in all Catholic churches, and every church had a pipe organ which was used every Sunday, and not sitting dormant, collecting dust. We desperately need to return to this so that we can truly be what we once were - which was markedly "different" from the mainstream protestant or evangelical experience. And we should become this kind of "different" precisely because it is that very difference which has the power to speak so deeply to the curious minded, whenever they enter a traditional Catholic church and can see and smell and hear that difference... replete with all the incense, bells, solemnity, and pageantry that makes our worship such a reverent and tangibly sacred experience. When we have this, any newcomer will immediately hear and sense this solemnity and be deeply moved to realize that our Lord is truly present in a very unique and sacred way, in the Catholic Church. But whenever we protestant-ize the mass, we start to appear like everything else that newcomer has experienced anywhere else. So why would he want to convert? Why would he be curious at all? Let us pray that the next Pope will indeed be a traditionalist, who is more in the model of Benedict XVI. Please ask your local priests to return to tradition, even if it's in little ways, and ask them to use more sacred traditional music. NEVER let the pipe organ sit silent! Every penny invested in hiring classically trained musicians (usually with a degree in music) who have studied voice and organ for many years will be returned a thousand times over in the sacred beauty which can be created, to move the hearts of the faithful. One organist and 4 principle vocalists (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) can be paid on a per diem basis, for not much money, and this alone can form the backbone of a schola choir made complete by volunteer singers in the parish. For a parish with a limited budget, the principle singers can often be found among the music majors at a local college or university. For a larger parish with more significant funds, a professional organist / choirmaster can be hired as a full time member of the staff, to create and support both youth and adult choirs, which seek to grow the overall music program itself. This can be particularly effective if the parish has a school attached to it, so that the organist / choirmaster can create a vibrant music program in the school, which exposes young people to the sacred music they would not ordinarily hear on their own, and which teaches them how to actively participate in creating it. The Anglican Church in the UK has been particularly successful in doing this. And the Catholic once was too. Why can't we do it again? Speak out and talk to your local bishop and priests about the importance of sacred music and reviving tradition. Until we have a pope who embraces the Traditional Lation Mass again, we can at least still use that same sacred music and tradition in the Novus Ordo.

Pinsa (Latin) - pushing dough with hands. I had a friend from Naples when I lived in Houston in the late 70’s-80’s, his parents came to visit one summer and his mom made pizza as the dough is almost ready to pan up she folded-in hand torn chunks of mozzarella and basil leaves and a little marinara and what looked like extremely thin but shredded by hand prosciutto (not pepperoni) and folded it all in a few times, then slathered it all with a melted garlic-onion-butter-olive oil mixture. She put it in a 9x9 ( brownie pan) so it rose up thick and light. She called it ‘pis’za’ with her accent from Na’poli. She told me then it was her great grandmother that taught her after she was engaged to be married in the 1950’s. Told her to make it every day and no one in her home would ever go hungry, a perfect blend of all the food groups. Ha ha. Now you can boast about having an authentic Napoli Pizza recipe that goes back to the 1880’s. So easy.

The 2 parishes close to my home are typical & have female lectors, Eucharistic Ministers & altar servers. I pray the priests would wake up & teach some true & strong teachings, esp in these evil times. Too many fundsraisers for new buildings, etc😢😢😢

When he offered himself as a hostage for others, especially for the children, I knew that he was imitating Christ. It would be wonderful if he really is the "Holy Pope" who restores the Church , the pope we will be expecting after the wars and devastation. There are several wonderful pope possibilities, as people have said--Sarah, Schneider, Mueller, Burke, Vigano.
