The thing about yuzu is his whole persona, his respectful nature, he’s a fighter, he was also in extreme pain during the olympics and should’ve been recovering but was still skating bc he loved it. Personally you can like whoever you want to but I’m not for putting others down to get there.

Corden did a much better job than Fallon of interviewing Nathan and drawing him out… I loved the question about his music choices. Fallon was just like, “Wow, Nathan Chen, what you did was awesome. Show me a jump on this carpet. Oh, wow! Ok, thanks, Nathan!” This one was much more engaging!

The Olympic channel has put them back up on KZread. There is just no commentary. I found the short and free skate

Nathan is THE CUTEST at 10:00 when Corden eggs him on to show off his gold medal to his classmates and Nathan responds sheepishly "I don't think so" and notice how he removes his medal...if more public figures could be so modest and likeable. But really, if the interviewers could ask more insightful questions instead of trivial, stupid yak yak. In interviews with depth, he is comfortable.

This interview baffled me. Why get Nathan on the show if they're not going to meaningfully engage with him and ask him questions about his journey/ Olympic experience? Those jokes were so distasteful and not at all funny.

I actually think James and Will did a good job of trying to involve Nathan and ask some good questions (not the same ones everyone always asks) and to give him some opportunities to show a little personality. Nathan chose to answer some questions super generically and in a boring way. Like just name one detail about college life (a class subject, getting to eat regular food, anything?) rather than blandly saying he's just looking forward to it. In the past, I've always been annoyed with interviewers asking the same question over and over of Olympians, but really, the athlete had every opportunity here to share something. He could work on this because he would be way more marketable as a sports personality if he wanted to transition to that in his career.

I agree that IF Nathan wanted to have some type of career in the entertainment business that he could’ve answered the questions differently. But Nathan is just a low key guy who wants to live a quiet life and I’m sure he will be happy once the media hype dies down. I think he’s ready to go back to school and blend in and be as anonymous as possible.

He went on the show because he had to. I just truly think he doesn’t have an interest in fame of any kind. I also don’t think this was the best show for him. He was clearly uncomfortable when the conversation got risque. He was a lot more comfortable on Jimmy Fallon. Yes Corden asked some good questions but this show just wasn’t a good fit for Nathan.

Everyone's pointing out how awkward (in a cute way) Nathan is, but honestly the interviewer are doing everything they can to make it as awkward as possible and they could be asking better questions, Nathan is an interesting guy.
