I am not a designer and I don't work in a field related to design, but recently I have become really worried about how AI will affect some professions like designers. And in my opinion your conclusion that AI is a tool that will help you in your job is naively incomplete. Think for a moment: I you are 5x times more effective and productive with AI, soon there will be some designers doing the job and charging 5 times less. And there will be some simple jobs for which some companies will not need a designer: a small company that needs a logo wil generate a logo with some AI platform and then some employee that has some experience using a some drawing software and some sense of aesthetics will just tweak the AI design. Less designers will be needed. Just like a CEO 60 years ago needed a secretary to type any letter and now the CEO can type it himself. Or just like 50 years ago there were several draftsman (that draw blueprints by hand) for every engineer or architech, while now the ratio is 1 draftsman (usind a CAD program) for every engineer or architect (that can also use a CAD program). AI will have the same effect that all this software, but at a much faster pace and across a lot of professions. Designers will be deeply affected by these AI platforms. Designers job will loose value in an hyper-competitive overcrowded job market. And it is sad, also because It will affect creativity.

The only jobs available for thousands of millennilas with degree would be shitty ones like cooks, librarians, janitors, etc. Perhaps teachers would still be save for a long time, but with people having less kids, I don't know. It would be something more related to teaching grown up people on Internet or something. Anyhow, I agree and don't understand the point of releasing these technologies as if they were potato chips and investing thousands of dollars in their development just for copywriters, journalists, translators and artists to lose potential clients or even their jobs in 10 years or less. At this rate AIs will be making all the art and cool stuff while we would be making boring things such as Excel labels or other boring shit. Hell, even schools and universities don't know exactly what to do with all this shit writing esays and assignments right now. Software developers and engineers like to make fun of all philosophy and social studies majors, but what the creators of GPT and all the other copies out there seem to ignore is that they have threaten the careers of thousands of people. Sons of bitches. They say that it is just a question of "adapting", "knowing how to use the correct prompt" and "reskilling ourselves", and that it will be just another tool to make things easier, but while they say that, they release a newer version and other companies develop their own alternative to compete. And giants of tech like Google and Microsoft are firing 10.000 employees. Besides, I think we need less technology. It is ruining our lives and making us miserable and dumber. Surely this thing won't annihilate all jobs, but with most people out there having high school and some kind of degree, hell yeah it's gonna fuck us. The answer won't be just "upgrading ourselves to be more competitive", cuz right now several jobless people are just making that.

AI will reduce the actual design work, which made us initially become designers. There will be in future more administrative work and client alignments due to the efficiency increase. This means creatives will lose the feeling that they really created something by themselves with their own skills by the end of the day. Which will lead to more frustrated creatives in the professional field. Don't misunderstand me, I am not against AI, but we will become fewer craftsmen and more administrators

You have no clue what the plans for ai and the new world are and this shows that clearly. The whole plan has always been to replace the physical workers in every field possible. They dont need you anymore with advancing technology that can automate everything even your designs with less error once they reach that point in their learning. They wont have you human flaws of being tired or burned out or having a creative block, they will just perform over and over again. And the people who pay for the services of designers are never designers and are going to look for the cheapest option which is going to be ai generated and they will hire someone to do just that while replacing everyone else that does that job in the process. People just wanna keep ignoring the track records of the people who role all this tech out into the world and the fact that it is ALWAYS weaponized against us.

One thing I always find which won't change regardless of AI development is 'Taste' or 'Likeness' of an individual artist/designer in various field of motion design, filmmaking, UX design etc. Whatever tools we use, we come to a result after multiple iterations, that final thing we arrive comes from our taste of what we like as an artist and chose to go for it. This won't change.

When it comes to design, AI or Robots can NEVER replaced humans. Design or UX Design is for humans. And you cannot be effective in any design-related field or health related field without EMPATHY, that's the heart of it. And machines are devoid of empathy. UX Design is 50% Psychology, 30% percent technology and only 20% arts. That's the reason why soo many psychologists are doing amazing in this field of UX Design. And for some Graphic Designers they may enjoy UI alone but not necessarily UX Design and then there's some who do UX Design but don't have any artistic bone at all. It is only 20 percent arts.

Idk why people couldn't differentiate an artist from a designer. Graphic designers have long been reliant on technology and what artists already made just to organize text and shapes on a screen. The only reason people arent concerned is because their understanding of how far ai has already been developed is so in the dark they believe there isnt a threat. Whats available to you to train with right now isnt even close to where ai is developed. Quantum computers already do everything people say they are afraid of ai gaining the ability to do but people live under a rock and support everything that makes life easier because humans have grown lazy beyond measure.

I think I'd have an easier time embracing these tools if they weren't so expensive. Creative Cloud is already prohibitively expensive for many people - how are folks who are just paying their bills supposed to learn AI tools if they can't afford them? I know the answer is that they can't, and they'll just be priced out of the profession because they can't afford to be early adopters of these new technologies. But it's something I'd like more people to consider when talking about the benefits of AI.

Get on the dole with the rest of the computer workers, only people who are safe for some period of time are manual laborers. Maybe you should consider pivoting to carpentry or plumbing for the next few years to have some kind of income before the mass production of effective robots takes that too.

I messed around with UX/UI design and what I discovered is, a great deal of it has to do with research and user interaction. It'll be incredibly difficult for AI to replace that human element of discovering pain points by watching users interact with products. Only a human could know what will feel good in the hands of other humans. But when it comes to figma, Adobe, and other design tools, AI will probably take those over.

As someone who comes originally from a computer science degree, coders mostly dont have morals/ethics. They are so horny for tech evolution and their own profit. AI needs clear laws so humans (and not only tech-companies) stay in control.

I definitely think AI will replace designers, because I think AI will replace everything, so I don't think design is safe. But these tools being spoken of that generate designs is not how I imagine we will be replaced. That part is what I'm trying to figure out. As a product designer I am never being given a general thing to design (like ex: create a travel app for Mars). Not much of my job at all is about putting together beautiful mocks. That was in bootcamps. In the real world my job looks like being given a problem (users are not abandoning the checkout process) and then after research, I am coming up with several directions we can take to keep users engaged. This is much more complex than: design me an app to travel Mars. But I do think AI will mean that at least the first few years, AI may replace the need to do testing every time if it can accurately predict how users will behave, it might mean research will be data-based rather than qualitatively based. So 100% we will be replaced, but not because AI can make beautiful mocks. That's simply not what a UX designer does

Same idea but I think the real problem is AI being trained on data with content that was created by AI already. Basically creating a kind of feedback/magnification of both what the majority of people expect and what the AI expects they'll expect. Like a kind of homogenizing force, which is what you see in a lot of other industries with things become systemized and/or automated.

They mean that I'm not thinking for my own self somewhere. So, thanks, but no thanks on the shortcuts AI creates that will make me into a so-called "Super Designer"! If I ever get there, I will get to Super with my own mind! AI is doing more than just _suggesting_ a creative route we can take. It's replacing the parts of us that have to think to get that far in the first place. I will never be on board with this, no matter the force upon us to adapt. I'll adapt for work's sake, but I will never, ever support it.

There will still be more jobs created in industries like architecture and web design for example, where companies would hire designers to produce data that is compatible with their products and use it to train AI programs.
