Will A Hydrostatic Tractor Plow? - Buy Right Size Bottom Plow

Sizing the right plow for your tractor is key! We picked up an old 16-inch two-bottom breaking plow for cheap, but it was too big for our tractor. We looked at IRONCRAFT, and I think we have a match. 6212 by IronCraft ‪@ironcraftusa‬ ‪@tymnorthamerica‬ #ironcraftusa

Good day. I’m a competitive plough man from eastern Canada and have watched your plowing videos from the start. You’re definitely getting better, but there are few adjustments you need to make. Keep the plow level left/right and front/back while plowing. Also, to get the front furrow a little smaller to match the rear, you’re going to need to loosen the clamps at the front that hold the cross shaft to the beam (cross shaft is the part your lower 3pt links hook to). Slide the plow body closer to the right side. Using a 12in plow, the measurement should be 12in from the inside of your right tire sidewall to the point on the front bottom. Also, if they sell counters for that plow it will pull much easier with them. Those tires are also going to give you some issue as they are pretty wide to fit down inside the furrow bottom. And one last part, if you want better traction and better maneuverability, take your loader off when plowing. I’ve got some plowing to do for practice with my competition plow in the next few days, maybe I’ll try and send you a video with a few pointers

What are the dimensions of your plowed area and how much yield have you gotten? Overall length and width. Bushels of corn and other crops for the season. That kind of info. Trying to decide what size garden to try. I realize lots of variables can affect yield but am wondering about a good size to start with for two people.

This year was our first time in this area. We had a horrific yield 😁 We are amending the soil with organics and heavy fertilizer. Next year should be better. We have a garden this size at our other house. It is enough for a family of 6.

I really appreciate these videos! I bought the 1515h. I have approx. 30 hrs on mine. I keep noticing the black colored cylinders on the loader. Mine are red. Are the black cylinders different from the red ones? Are they factory or aftermarket?

The plough’s backbone needs to be flat, you are ploughing uphill, which will draw a lot of power. Get the points flat or slightly pointing forward, the adjustable top link is a recipe for confusion and disaster, set it and forget it. Plough looks cantered too far to the left. Adjust so that each furrow makes the same width cut and then adjust side to side height, up or down on the right length adjuster, until the furrows are nicely the same height.
