Wildfire season close to 10-year average heading into the peak summer months

Federal officials say this wildfire season is still far less severe than the record-setting year in 2023, but the risk for new fires is high in particular for B.C., Yukon and Northwest Territories. July and August are typically the peak months for fires in Canada and hot, dry weather is expected for much of Western Canada in the next few weeks. (July 12, 2024)
