Haha! Back when this song came out, it was so overplayed on the radio, that I got burnt out on it, but after all these years and now being able to play the song, I frikn love it! Beautiful easy chords and rhythm - that's the way I like'em! Thanks, James!

It got overplayed for a reason.
Excellent job 👏 beautiful song and beautiful guitar 👍👍
I love when I come to KZread and search for a song I wanna learn by typing in the title and guitar, and a video by you is at the top of the list.
Beautiful song. I can't believe how easy these songs are getting. Thanks
Nice... You nailed the chords on this. Sounds just like the recording.
OMG songs from my childhood lol I couldnt get enough of this song as a wee 'lad. This version is definitely a re-record...nice job!
Gracias!!!! Thank you for unlocking the magic to this and many other songs for me.
Thanks for the great lesson. Good taste in music. I wish we had these lesson in the 70's. Really appreciated.
Favorite type of songs to play. Cool chords, cool embellishments, dynamic strumming. Can't get any better.
Great lesson, beautiful song, one of my all time favorites. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the lesson. Great memories from my childhood around this song and it's a real joy to play on the guitar.
Whenever I can get the correct chording pattern on a favorite, I'm Happy......and I'm happy. Thanks for putting this out.
There's a great live version of this song, when he did Letterman in 2007. If people like the song, it's well worth checking out. And I believe you're right about this being an updated version.
Fantastic Lesson James James !!! Thankyou !! I'm a 50+ year old man and this beautiful song still makes me cry like a little girl😭😁... Brings back my earliest, happiest memories of sitting in the back of my Dad's Oldsmobile station wagon listening to AM "Gold" in the sunny, summer seventies back when it was AM "Current"... Your lessons and guitar playing/interpretations speak for themselves👍🏼👌🏼🤙🏼... You have become my first go-to whenever I get the notion or a song in my head that I want to learn...

Great golden oldy/on hit wonder....thanks man!
Ey James so far the way how you play this song it´s the best I´ve ever seing. Congrats.
Great job. Remembering hearing this at Papa Jenos in Boston in the early 70,s on the table jukebox.
always liked this song. Thanks James!
This is great - thank you. Learned a lot from this one. I love these strumming songs and this is a good one to get me out of playing first position chords all the time. You gave just the right amount of explanation of the chords.
I saw MMM back in the 90's in New Orleans at a country joint called Mudbugs. I love this song. Reminds me of being a kid.
James you are a great player and teacher. Wish I was near to take lessons from you. 👍🏻
Your so dam@ good at this. Thanks for making me so much better JJ

That's a J200.
Thanks for a superb explanation of one of my favourite personal "guilty pleasure" songs. I learnt this one a couple of years ago from a clip on youtube but your explanation nailed it clearly and succinctly. Thanks also for the recent Sex Pistols clips - Michael Martin Murphy and Johnny Rotten!! - there's two names you don't often see in the same paragraph :-)

***** I have to admit that I took a little bit of pleasure in posting Wildfire right after the Pistols tunes.
You showed me some nuances I hadn't noticed before...well done!!
Great tutorial for this song! Thanks!
EPIC ! Greetings from Louisville !!! R.I.P. B.B. King !!
Sounds great! Thanks!
Thank you! I like all different styles of music. Depends on my mood. I love led Zeppelin, Rolling stones, Blue's, I was 10 years old when this song came out! Same year my Dad past away! I remember a lot of songs that came out that year! I was hoping you covered this one!

Wow John. My dad passed away when I was 10 in 1974. A similar emotion. Definitely a part of my youth, this song.
Great song , love the frampton shirt!
Yeah, that's definitely not the '70's version we all knew. Just a tad diffent in spots. It's a good thing that you mentioned it or I might have gone crazy thinking, "what?"
thank you sir U R my favorite guitarist
Wow- I never heard the new version of that song... I remember listening to the original version back in the 1970’s.
James I didn't see the whole video one time but but now that I did now you know let you know how to play the song real good when I first watched the video I didn't see the whole thing but then when you stop the music it's on a plane with a guitar I knew you know you were doing thank you very much for your performance that's why we must listen to the whole thing before making an answer
great work James among the best tute dudes on the tube good ear for a ledgendary tune
Your the greatest man.
Love that Frampton t-shirt man!! I collect classic concert shirts also. Great job nailing the chords. Technically you could do it differently, but you have to do it this way for the fullness sound of the accompanying open strings. Obviously, you have the ear as well. Bravo for doing it the right way.
you rock....kind sir
There's his live appearance on Midnight Special back in '76 i believe that's his first appearance here on KZread. That was the beginning of my fan crush on Michael...And i can't help but melt everytime i see him perform this song. And even though this isn't him right now i will say nice tutorial for playing and going through all the chords...James..
Perfection!
love it.
Thanks as always dude!!..
You're awesome dude.
I really admire what you do.
great song!!
beautiful
Nice job dude!!!
Excellent.
Didn't know that song, I like it ! :) In the same kind of music you have Don Mclean, it can be interesting
Nachez trace, geronimo Cadillac, what am I doing hanging around, great songs I discovered later and his bio is very interesting.
Excellent,,,,
Hay JJ your a funny guy) pistols to this song. I remember learning that A cord from the Glen Campbell song on pt. Channel. This will be the 2nd song to use it again. A nice oldies tune to learn play. I like the intro cords. Thanks JJ. Hall&Oates ?
Great one here James J, I found some Peter Frampton full concerts on Music vault from around 1976 through 1979. Pretty cool stuff happening out in Oakland and N.J. at that time, perhaps some or all may be interested if they haven’t found their way on this section of YT, some at the Capitol Theatre (Passaic, NJ) in 1976. Look Here: Peter Frampton on MV

1p6t1gms That Frampton show from the Capitol Theatre is outstanding, right before he really exploded in popularity. And he plays most of the show with a goldtop LP (a Deluxe, if I remember correctly) instead of his usual Custom. Great version of Just the Time of Year, even though he forgets the words in a couple of spots!

James James Live is best in most cases. I really enjoyed it all. :o)
Nicely done. Great job as usual. Dang you were just a wee lad of 6 when this song came out. lol Also love the Frampton shirt. thumbs up! :-)
Thanks man.
JJ, these are sought after because YOU LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!
love you!
Sweet!
Thanks for posting this. I recognize your guitar, voice, etc., from your postings as Privetpicker. I might have the actual spelling incorrect. I really like the fact that you never opted to have an overproduced "glitzy" introduction to every video you do. Right down to business from the beginning.
Wow, this songs takes me 25 years back. What a song. You are truly a great guitarist. I wonder what do you do for a living? are you a band player?
Good work
40 - 146 Thanks! - Great job!
James, You never cease to amaze me. You take the lamest song from 30 years ago and make me want to learn it. I really don't understand how you do it, but thanks for doing it. So many chords that I never recognize the first time, and I always hang in there until the end hoping you'll explain, and most times you do. Thanks again, and keep them coming.

I was around beginning days..What was your "handle" beforet?...Priveticker?--Did I get it right? 5 STARS! --Van
yeah I know he recorded it a couple times after the original because there's an extended piano intro and outro on an updated one I've heard a few times. also the snare is very "wet" sounding compared to the original (I'm also a drummer as well as a guitar player, so I can tell production sounds like that). also the vocal entry on the second verse is different from the original. at any rate, great job! i always enjoy your informative videos. definitely helped me learn a few tunes i'd always wanted to play but hadn't the foggiest how to go about them.
Let's you an I my friend ! Convince tAylor Swift to cover this wonderful song as well !! Pass along the petition !!! ✌🏾
❤️
bella questa sequenza di accordi belli solari
Just curious about the gold top on your profile picture page. I'm assuming it's a 50's or a re-issue. Is it possible to intonate with the simplified bridge without the benefit of the tune-a-matic? Love the look.
For that AMaj7, Try from the E string down: 5, 0, 6, 6, 5, 0. Rings nice. Even better on your guitar! Also, I'm thinking that B sounds better as a B7. Let me know what you think! Thanks! I did a quickie on the electric intro a few years ago.
Love the sound of the '200! I've been a Gibson guy for more than 40 years. What type of strings are you using?
@jamesjames9275

Probably Martins -- or whatever was cheap that day.
Frampton Still Comes Alive
Reminds me a bit of Led Zep's Ramble On chord progression.
James, what strumming pattern do you use?
@jamesjames9275
6 жыл бұрын
That’s not really something I can explain. So much of strumming is in the feel of the song, no real set pattern. At least, the good strumming songs are that way.

James James I guess that’s why they say your left hand is what you know. Your right hand is who you are.
If only I could stretch these short stubby fingers of mine! Awesome!
Awesome job James James on your other channel do have the ocean by led Zeppelin
Have you posted "You shook me all night long" on your PT channel?

Nope.
Could you post the chords to "Looking At Her" off McCartney's NEW album? It's a great song. Only if you want. Thanks for all the great vids.
what’s the strumming pattern?
Could you do a BB King song? Seems fitting around now.
@ 2:28...I find it easier to play that C#m like you grip the G#m but just use my first finger to hold the high E string...also, I play the B @ the 7th fret, without the low E string to give it some more "Chime"....LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR CHANNEL !! btw, I just stole this lesson and posted my OWN video....the check is in the mail.
