Very classy performance. Love seeing the old guys (like me) still performing and sounding fantastic!
Nice to see 75% of the original band back together to honor John. Ron is a pleasant surprise as vocalist.

Such an awesome band!! RIP Jeff Downes! ☮️💕
I regret missing this show. Loved John Wetton, but having said that - Ron does such a great job singing these classics. It was a sad day losing John, but this is a fantastic tribute.

I remember when they had a live concert broadcast on MTV Greg lake took over vocal duties for john wetton..this was in the early 80's
The outro to Cutting it Fine has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
Still feel the chills like i did at 13 years old. Groundbreaking music that was way ahead of its time
Ron's musicianship is inspiring! Solo work, G n' R, Sons of Apollo & Asia. The guy is really versatile.

Thanks for posting. Great to see them still rocking. That Bumblefoot was actually pretty good. Hope Geoff finishes the last Asia album he wrote with John before he passed.
As talented as Ron is, Io never thought that he'd front Asia one day. :) Hello from the old neighborhood brother.
I must confess i've never been much of an Asia fan, but i am really impressed with this. I had no idea Bumblefoot could do this lead singer thing, i thought he was just a stunt guitarist, very impressive. Howe sounds great too and holy shit, does Carl Palmer ever age? The man could still out-play any youtube sensation 1/5th his age.

Carl Palmer keeps himself in great shape.
Excellent job from Ron and can't wait to hear the new music.
As a John Wetton fan since 1973 and having seen John perform with King Crimson, UK (twice), and Asia, this singer does a fine job. Not sure what people are crying about.
Damn! Bumblefoot can sing! He sounds great. I never knew he could sing. The whole band sounds amazing of course.
Excellent job from Bumblefoot!

Carl rushing and slowing down just like in'82!
Great performance!! This vocal style/technique is quite different from what Ron does normally but he's doing such a great job!!
What stood was how good Carl Palmer still is. Each band had there ehh moments but Carl carried Asia and ELP covers on his back and did it well.
Great,Ron voice like mix of Wetton and Lake.

Neither. But obviously like a crossover between John Payne, (who came to Asia later as their lead singing bassist :) (as Wetton had left the band because of his alcohol problem) and the deceased Boston lead singer Brad Delp. Rest in Peace to both John (Wetton) and Brad (Delp).
Steve Howe always enjoys to play these first Asia songs... it's that spark in his eyes!!!!
Great job Ron! Great to see such a lineup. Welcome back to the good old days of real rock!
Wetton for ever… Bumblefot excellent work!!! ASIA Best Band!!
I'm glad to see them almost togeher . Forever in My 💗jhon. Thanks for coming to Bogotá Colombia 2010. 🙌
wow, well done, Sir Bumble!
It's sad that Billy Sherwood gets mostly overlooked in both the comments and even these videos themselves. It was John Wetton's wish that Billy help the band continue and Billy is one of the hardest working guys in the prog industry and he barely gets his due for it☹️ Band sounds great, though.

I was there, great show
I can get behind this lineup. Bumblefoot is extremely competent, and though he differs from Wetton, and Lake, he has great tone and range. I like Coulson, but without Howe, Asia lacked the magic that made them famous. Sherwood more than capable of playing Wetton's bass lines. Palmer is always the master showman, and Downes is the glue that held it all together in all its incarnations. RIP John Wetton, we miss you.
Great to see 3 of the 4 original members of one of my all time favourite bands Asia!!! RIP: John Wetton
That Asia Asia album is Incredible🔥🔥🔥
Bumblefoot is the PERFECT replacement for Wetton (I know, I know - you can´t really replace a John Wetton! ) but he REALLY has the perfect voice for Asia!!!!

Excellent!
I'm really warming to Bumblefoot's voice. At first I wasn't sure it was right compared to Wetton, Payne or Sherwood but watching this video had made me realise he's not half bad!
Only time will tell ❤️ it
Ron is just great
Greg Lake was the closest to sounding like Wetton and they even drifted apart as they aged. You aren't going to find someone like Wetton. Bumblefoot does a solid job. Just enjoy the last hurrah as we are losing the artists we grow up in bunches now. I will take ANY band past it's prime over Beyonce, Swift, Beiber, Perry, shit ALL OF THEM. For ever 100 shit artists one or two good ones show up. It is like being back in college and finding good new bands in clubs as everything that makes mainstream is over produced. Go watch Rick Beato's channel for the explanation.
Can you imagine being on the same stage as Steve Howe and 1 of the 2 greatest drummers of all time, Carl Palmer, the other i shouldnt even have to say his name, but I will for the youngsters, Neil Peart
See rob is doing a outstanding job on the vocals the critics are just that critics
He sounds pretty good!
Steve is a guitar master
Wow. Just wow
Great lineup. Steve Howe"s starting to look like a wizard.
Ill be honest, Steve Geoff and Billy look like their having far more fun here than they have in YES especially Steve.
Saw them at the Cow Palace near SF in the 80's, while in the service...They look a bit older here...:)...So long ago!
Must have been so strange for Ron to be up there without a guitar! He sang the hell out of those songs! Wow
Love me some ASIA, love me some YES. Can't wait for my Baltimore show. Front row, baby!
wow there so fucking amaizing.....and they are not the youngest...so much respect
Felt is a master. Miss john bad!ly. He and Greg lake were my favorite vocalists
Where are you John Wetton ???? , I hope and a better place , we miss you!
Hey geoff i give you 5 for your skill, among for any keyboard player progressive band
Asia's music is so much more suited to Geoff's playing. They sound much better and more solid than 'Yes Official'.
turn Steve UP

The keyboard 🎹 ist finally has found MIDI ⌨️🖥️🎼
I'm so confused. So very, very confused. I just woke up and watched this video and it looks like BUMBLEFOOT is singing... and NOT playing guitar.
I've thought that ASIA and Bumblefoot was such a very odd matchup. So weird. But he actually wasn't bad on vocals. Sheerwood though needs a hairdresser. lol.
Sin John Wetton ya no es igual mi grupo Asia. John Wetton la gran voz del grupo.
Two gongs?
The only thing Ron lacks is the English accent.
Tumbleweed and some Bumblebee Tuna.
GREAT JOB BY RON TO PAYHOMAGE TO JOHN WETTON !!!!!
NOT 1/2 bad!!!
If Geoff Downes doesn't address his weight gain, we're going to lose him too...
Lack of power. John Wetton's voice was more powerful.
I miss John Wetton. Too bad great artists don't get a pass on aging, cancers and deaths. The world is better off with them.
With all the respect I have for ASIA music, this project is hardly acceptable for me.
Downes, Palmer, Howe and Payne would've been perfect.
Ok hard song to sing - But Wetton didn't sing "Sahhoooooooool Survivor" ... He's gotta sing "Sohhhhhl Survivor" .. Like Wetton. Look he sounds great - but these are nuances of the songs, ya gotta stick to.

Zorn Casteel I like the guy and appreciate the big shoes he is filling but in almost every video of his performance with Asia he sounds very flat. Struggling very much to reach the high note.
@analystzorncasteel3047

Well, it sounds sometimes weak (lack of force) .. which can come across as flat. There are songs he sounds better on than others ... But he has to do Wetton's phrasing, of the words.
@Jelperman

Part of that is that Thal is an American singing a song originally performed with an English accent. Thal pronounces a hard R on "Survivor" but Wetton didn't. You see the same thing when Americans cover ELP songs like Still, You Turn Me On. Greg Lake sang it as "You see it really doesn't mat-tah..." but Americans sing it as "It really doesn't MAT-ter..."
@fredrikpihl

Felipe Teixeira The problem was with his in ear system. A lot of singers experience the same issue. They think they’re spot on in pitch according to the in ear. Otherwise he has no problem reaching high notes. Listen to his original songs to hear what he is capable of.
@analystzorncasteel3047
5 жыл бұрын
No ... This issue is - any somewhat decent singer - the desire to start to stylistically make these songs your *'own'* .... You can't. You got to sing them like Wetton. ~ Follow his phrasing.
Ron did what he could, but he's clearly not the right singer for the band
Underwhelming, & so disappointing!
Am I the only one? I don't really care for the singer I'd rather have John or Greg any day.
How can anyone think this guy can sing? Should have asked John Elefante!

”This guy?”It’s the guitar player from Guns&Roses which most people doesn’t seem to have a clue about here. His a great guitar player and i had no idea that he even sang at all.And i think his doing a great job because his not a really”a singer”and i don’t think he takes it to seriously and not the rest of the band eighter. It’s just for fun you know.
No problem with a band going on touring after the death of their key member, but sorry... This Asia fan thinks this is total crap, and really a very very bad tribute to Wetton. This is not even a mouse, stepping into an eagle's shoes, so to speak. The growth potential here is absolutely non existing. Little mice might become one day big mice, but they'll never fly proudly. If they make it in the air, it's while sitting not too comfortably in the claws of an eagle or owl. This guy hasn't got the right stuff, not the right background (quantity is not the same as quality). After the steep dive of Yes, yet another band that took the Status Quo refrain "a little bit" to literally: down down, deeper and down.... These bands are becoming a complete mockery of themselves, a cartoon version. I am more and more agreeing with French actor Alain Delon's pessimistic view of today's world, which is indeed more and more "zum kotzen", to make a résumé of his analysis. Fortunately enough there's the good stuff of Asia and Yes, and to quote yet another band, I'll take care to bottle it, and label it with love. The rest is for the green flies you also can find on horseshit in the prairies.
